workout when sick?

i am still dealing with this cold and i have been not working out and just letting my body rest.. but i am going crazy not working out!! So is it really bad to workout, or can i at least do some cardio? what do you guys think or have experienced when sick?

I'm a big believer in not working out if you're sick, particularly if your illness could be contagious or if you have a respiratory infection. If it's just a head cold and you have the option of training at home, I think that's OK.

Stay home until you are fully better.. If not for you, then for everyone else at your gym.. You can do light cardio at your house.. No use in taking what you got to the gym, and giving it to everyone else..

if you have a heavy cold then u should not train at all if you have a light cold then still no cardio but weight traingn is ok depending on how you feel.
 
Forgive me for being a little hardcore about this, but I say train. The only time I would miss a workout is if...well actually I don't know how to finish this sentence. Haven't missed a workout in almost two years. Not that I'm patting myself on the back, but every time I don't lift someone else does.

Besides remember when MJ had the flu in the playoffs and didn't know if he was gonna be able to play. Well he did and he had one of the best games of his career. Personally I concentrate better when I'm sick. You know that things are gonna be hard in the gym so you seem to push harder when you are sick...maybe its just me??!

Having said that I can understand not wanting to spread germs to others. I guess I take that for granted working out alone.
 
If i feel like im getting sick i ALWAYS train...i push it even harder..that way the feber breaks sooner, i might feel like shit the rest of the day..but the next day im fine..thats why i havent been sick in several years...i kill that shit before it gets me
 
SG....I have been fighting a cold for the past two days. I have continued to do my weight training and cardio (though the cardio is not as intense). I am with Hannibal on this one...I feel that working out with a cold just makes me push harder. Now if I were really sick....that would be a different story.

I asked my doctor this one time when I was sick and she said that.......... Yes, you should still work-out. Her reasoning was that you should try and keep your diet and metabolism consistant while you body trys to fight the illness.

When I asked her about spreading germs, she said to wash my hands before I touched any equipment (and not to touch my head/nose/mouth, again or I had to re-wash my hands)
