Workout Stopping Headache....Anything i could do?

mm107

High End Bro

Ok heres the situation....

Im on, 500mg/week Test E
First Cycle Ever

Im currently just starting week 3 of a 10 weeker.

In the past while using the bands in the workout i have gotten this pain right in the middle of the top of my head. It literally causes a severe pain to the point where i can not workout anymore.

I HAVE GOTTEN this 2x before when i was OFF cycle, so i do not know if the two are relate.

I'm thinking it could be high BP during the workout? Due to the band causing the most Pressure/Tension on lockout?

My real question is, the pain goes away with aspirine, are there any extreme side effects from covering up my pain with aspirin? I dont want to get a brain anurism lol

This could have happened to me on Saturday because i was also on an STRONG ECA stack + Caffein drink and what not....

just wondering also if anyone here HAS HAD to stop a workout because the pain was really that bad?

of course the stimulant can have that effect on some people... My g/f is susceptible to migraines and really cant have any caffeine at all.

Second, have you been monitoring your BP? I like to get mine checked as close to weekly as possible, just to know that things arent going too out of whack.

A light cycle like that shouldnt be causing you too many issues though... injecting once per week or twice? I always found twice per week to be Way better, in terms of all sides involved, some might say different, but for me, the difference in 500mg in one inject, vs two injects per week was significant

Check your BP right away.

Dont have the thing to do it. I was thinking it HAS to be the BP right?

I did all the "tips" to make your BP go high before i lifted.....

like squeezing the bar, getting focused, getting air etc, so i could imagine my
BP was skyrocketed...

is the only way to check via the cufflink pump things?

yes i believe so..... and you want to steer clear of the walmart sit down free ones...

they WILL give you a high reading... ive had mine upwards of 140/120 in one of those and my arms arent huge by any means... when i went to the doc it was WAY less than that.

you need to get someone with an Xtra Large cuff to check it for you

2 Shots...Monday morning/Thursday Night...

i know the ephrdra alone has 200mg Caffein/ and the drink i started to drink(but got the pain before finished) had another 200mg caffein....

I hardly ever have caffein/preworkout boosters but on Saturdays i go balls to the wall too

Go to wal-mart. It may not be exactly accurate, but maybe it could give you a good "range?"

Either use that free set up, or check out to see if they have any of those cuff/pump BP "checkers" (no clue what the proper medical terminology for it).... and if it's in a box where u can open it easy, use it real quick, lol.

i disagree... for me it was off far enough to not even be useful...

and it made me freak out for a week or two before i could get into the doc...

it was over 20 points high on both measurements, which IMO is outside of a useful range

LOL will do SGT lol always getting around the rules lol

I dont feel my BP is high at resting, like right now no headache, no pain nothing.

Before i did the set on Saturday....

We were supposed to go for 5 reps.
I turned around and told coach i would smoke this for 10 reps

Now we are dling, 300lbs only, but with doubled up purple bands on each side...So the bands most likely added 200+lbs at lockout.

So by rep 8, it felt like my head was going to pop. but my ego wouldnt let me stop. The weight felt light and if there was no pain i would have gotten 15 easy. But i finished the last 2, to make 10 reps and then it was all over.

Im definately gotta go get this BP checked....it might be high even at resting like was mentioned and the extreme PLing really spiked it.

Is there any way to test the accuracy of the "machine" that other wal-marts have perhaps?

dont really know... i know it was a debate here several months ago about how "off" those machines are... i know in my case it was way off and like i said my arms arent that big (16.5 cold, flexed) since most people here are bigger than I am, i would assume that the machine would be even farther off.

Very likely it is your blood pressure mon cheri, have it checked and perhaps do not have caffiene drink with eca stack. Sounds like too much caffiene for you

cut your stimulants off. you're prolly taking them out of habit. i don't even drink caffeine anymore and i bet i could run circles around most of the guys 10 years younger than me. and watch your BP, those machines aren't the most accurate, but, they are in the ballpark at the very least. cold packs, cold air, breathing exercises, all of those will help you chill a bit....

Stay clear of the "pump" drink BS Mike - it is all nonsense for PL'ing b/c of just this - way to easy to get too worked up!

Yea it was a "nos pump"

im cutting all stimulates out of my diet untill i can pinpoint it...

i know on cycle you have high BP(side) and i expected this, now i gotta keep it under controll....i do work up a rage in the gym lol this DEF wont help....

Yea AL your right, it could be used by an endurance guy running 10 miles, but for me, its counter productive im guessing

This is exactly what im going to do.....i dont need the mental "pump" anymore....i got the real deal running through my veins

will def droped the stims...thanks all!

and i will be checking my BP tonight after the workout!

Have some 250+ lb guy with a size 12 foot kick you in the nuts. It won't cure your headache, but it will definitely take your mind off of it awhile..

No could be a million things, take some asprin check your b/p then go back to the gym.

Your right on this one.....

I worked out again the pain came back with heavy sets of benching.

Felt like my BP was crazy.....(pumps, sweating, etc)

then, got to eckerd, about 30 mins after the workout and my BP was amazingly NORMAL. Pulse NORMAL. Did the machine 3 times so i would take the average, and everything was Under Normal by a few points.

Only thing that was little higher then normal for me was the Pulse, at 77, wich i usually am 55 at resting......

Gotta figure this shiznit out

bump for any answers besides it being high BP?

i'm gonna actually MAKE sure its NOT BP. im gonna go to the "machines" before workout, and after....

but im wondering if this is serious eneough for me to hit the DR up.....cause hes is gonna do a blood workup...wich i dont wanna do right now

ive had a similar problem a few times, i was getting it when doing pulldowns/squats/bench press, all high exertion exercises. i got this pain running up the back of my neck into the left/midlle of my head, so bad i had to stop. then about a year later i did a heavy leg workout and had sex immediately after. just as was about to cum, i got this really bad pain in my head, so bad i practically collapsed. it frightened the shit out of me and my girlfriend. i went to the docs next day, bp 117 over 78. everything checked out ok. the doc thinks its a condition known as cephalgia, or if you get it during sex, coital cephalgia and apparently its migraine related, caused by high exertion. i still get it occasionally when training (but not through sex, im sure you're all relieved to know) and just back off a bit when i feel it coming on. i too thought i was gonna bust a blood vessel in my head and have a stroke or something so i eased off for a couple of months. im back on gear now and just did a p/b on the bench press no problem.
hope that helps...

sounds exactly like what i am going through.....

mikefear, above said it most likely was an "exerction headache"......and alot of the symptons i do have as well.....But what really stuck out to me was you said it happens around the time your gonna cum, well yesterday i got head 2x (i know lucky me, girls on PMS, and im horny as hell) and both time i was feeling great up untill the load......then the headache hit instantly with severe pain.

hmmm, thanks for the new terms i can look up! will be doing more research

They dont call high blood pressure the silent killer for nothing. I was told by a Doc that BP cant cause a Headache.

Get you BP checked at the gym if they offer it......

Are you running clen, albuterol or had an increase/decrease(red vull etc) in caffeine(trex stims)??

Hydration - pee clear at least once during the day??

they dont have that option i wish they did....butt....i did get it before and after.....

no clen, nothing like that, just good ol test e.

no increase in stims, i stay clear of them as it is, but last weekend i did up my ECA + caffein so that could have screwed things up

read what i wrote, you douchecanoe!

LMAO, bro i just opened this page when i got a call at work and fuckin was crying on the phone

douchecanoe!@ lmao

i did read exertion headaches....sex headaches are in the same catorgory as exertion headaches....

Barbells and bedrooms

Exertion headaches kick in shortly after vigorous physical activity, such as heavy weight lifting or aerobics. To avoid sudden fluctuations in the blood vessels, cool down after intense training instead of stopping abruptly, and mix low-impact options like swimming or walking into your routine. Dehydration and low blood sugar could be triggers as well.

To prevent them, drink plenty of water--6 to 12 ounces every 15 to 20 minutes--during exercise, suggests Jeff Kotterman, L.M.S.N., director of the National Association of Sports Nutrition in San Diego. Within 30 minutes after a workout, eat a 1-to-3 ratio of protein (whey, turkey, or cottage cheese) to simple carbs (fruits like bananas, apples, and strawberries). If the pain returns, breathe slowly and deeply, ice the source of the pain, and rest in a dark room--or take a walk, preferably in fresh air.

Men are also more prone to sexual headaches, caused either by muscle contractions in the head and neck or by dilation of blood vessels just before orgasm. The vascular version, called orgasmic cephalalgia, involves a sharp pain around or behind the eyes that generally lasts for minutes but can linger for hours; it often occurs in men who also suffer from migraines. To take the pain out of your pleasure, slow down the pace and gradually increase sexual intensity. Beta-blockers used to treat migraines can be helpful; another option is to take aspirin or ibuprofen before intercourse. You could also take a break from the triggering activity--though most men would rather grimace and bear it.

i just dont know how to handle it, all they say can be done is ibuprofen pre workout/sex......but ive read too many studies that say ibuprofen fucks with muscle growth....so what do u think mike? you damn douchecanoe lol

hah, i thought you'd like it :)

Breathing more slowly, not holding your breath.. read up on breath control and try not to keep the strain in your head.. you can push PLENTY hard without your facing getting red and puffy.. :)

Took off from gym yesterday....Felt great....

Was having sex with my girl, orgasm came, and the worst pain ever fuckin hit me in my head....

reading about sex headaches recently.....im gonna get a MRI, i hope they dont need blood work lol

i said in my last reply that i dont get it during sex any more.... Wrong!!
i was nailing my girl last night and just as i came i got this bastard headache again. so ive decided no more sex...... for at least.... a day! dont know if this is significant or not but each time i get it , its when im standing up nailing her from behind. let me know how the mri goes , good luck.

yep, you keep the air in your stomach, not your chest/face.. push against the belt (i assume you use one, since u PL)..

btw, what are ur lifts like?

Maybe it could be form? I put the bar on the wrong part of my back once or twice while doing squats and got a killer headache.
