Workout gurus, I need some help.

Ok so after years of doing weights and trying countless routines and what not, I've hit a wall of sorts. Not a lifting wall, but things like age, motivation, aches and pains, TIME, etc are making me want to give up weights. I was thinking about going with a more military routine of situps, push ups, pull ups, and running. and just forgot the weights for now, maybe for good.

I know I won't get HUGE, but I have enough muscle mass for my liking, don't want or need more and a little BF loss would be a good thing.

Thoughts?

PS Those of you that were in the military, I've heard of guys in the military DI's and what not that never lift weights, just doing the above routines and are pretty big and cut. Is that a BS rumor I heard or what?

seriously though, hill climbs are a bitch
harder than sq workouts by far
cheap way to get fit

lol thanks for one serious reply. What exactly do you mean by hill climbs? Just running/jogging up steep hills?

The reason I ask is because I was recently at a friends wedding and met this guy that was a coworker of his. This guy was about 5'9", 200 and ripped. He swore up and down he never lifted weights, just did pull ups, push ups, etc and hi coworkers all verified his story. Now he may of done some gear or whatever, but he was solid. His diet appeared to be inline as well which is half the battle.

an aquaintence of mine is a navy seal.
claims never to workout with weights
fit as a mofo though, from swimming, running, military shit, etc.
he could endure a lot more than the typical gym rat.
so def possible to be ripped without weights.
for hill climbs i go to a ski resort and just walk the biggest hill
fucking sucks and is extremely difficult, but rewarding

i had same problems. i was stiff from years of lifting. martial arts injuries popping up from this. i started yoga 30 min a day from a dvd. i feel like a new man! back injuries healed, more flexible and athletic. yoga is awesome! i now do yoga as a 30 min warmup for brazilizn jiu jitsu and kick boxing. i also yoga 30 min warmup for weights. as far as weights i never do the same excersizes two workouts in a row(larry scott). this will help joints. calisthenics/ body weight excersizes are great too! just mix it up more!

Well that explains it, this was in Colorado and this guy lives in Vail Part time. I bet he walks those runs in the summer.

How long/often do you walk on these ski runs?

You could do fast, high reps with weights if heavy weights are hurting your joints and such.

That would preserve a lot of muscle and get you ripped at the same time.
