Hey women of EF:

What are you trying to quit/give up/cut down on?

For me, it's diet coke.

I'm finally down to one can every day or two. I've had more trouble with this than I did quitting smoking. I guess it's cos there's such negative press with smoking and all my friends had mostly quit, whereas EVERYONE drinks diet soda, even half the guys I know.

Man, I didn't realize how much of this stuff I was drinking. I've replaced it with just plain ol' carbonated water (or just water) or coffee. Sadly, now I'm kinda jitttery. I'm going to have to cut down a bit on coffee next. It really doesn't go well with xenadrine.

ugh.

What are you trying get out of your life?

Smoking:( and caffeine.

I am just a nervous wreck without any nioctine. It's ridiculous. I've cut down a lot, but I just can't quit yet.

I've cut back on caffeine a lot - I used to drink a six-pack of Diet Coke per day. Now I only have one.
 
I quit smoking about ten years ago -- it was rough, but worth it. Took me about 3 tries, I think. I basically ended up cutting down but after a certain point I foudn I just had to go cold turkey, otherwise I cut down to a certain point and then just started finding myself smoking more and more again until I stabilized at my old level.

How are you doing it? Patches? Gum? Willpower?

Trying to do it with willpower, but it's tough. If I keep very busy it becomes easier; but if I do nothing but sit on the damn computer(like now), it's a lot harder.

I would love to get a hold of some Zyban.
 
I am in the same boat as Trance... I am trying to quit smoking. So far I have been doing it by cutting down, but I am thinking of trying the patch soon. My biggest problem is getting over the habit.
 
Sweets, in particular donuts & chocolate chip cookies. I would let myself have some sweets on cheat day... but somehow cheat days GROW outside of 24 hours if I turn my back. :spin:

Diet coke -- I get addicted in cycles -- sometimes I can't stand it, other times I can't put it down. Right now I'm at about 2/day, but getting better at replacing w/ water. The cycles actually follow where I"m at in my clean diet cycle -- I can go 6 weeks eating perfectly clean and having no cravings whatsoever. Then I start getting bored w/ all the same food. Even a filet mignon doesn't sound exciting. So to avoid the dive for the junk food, I get some diff flavor in my mouth w/ some diet coke. That's where I'm at right now. I'm also in a holding pattern for another day before I get my new diet & training schedule from my new trainer to prep for a competition. I'm very impatient and completely unfocused right now, so the temptation is incredible. I'm sorta thinking like I may as well get a little wild now because once the diet starts, no room for sloppy eating.

My other thing to quit is getting the urge to eat junk because I"m bored. This is a bad habit left over from college.
 
I can usually stay away from the smokes unless I have a few drinks. Hey once I strt usuing eca and cyn forget it I have to smoke. Holy shit is this the stress of dieting or what??
 
Ok...I just HAVE TO tell you what I thought it was....(please don't think less of me for saying this )...my sicko porn hoarding husband has a disgusting pic of an asian woman eating a piece of cr*p....YES I looked at it ("hon, come here, you have to see this!!!")

Nope -- I think it's a white wine bottle. I thought it was a little suggestive when I posted it, but it's turning out to be like a rorschach test. People's minds seem to be reading interesting things into it. I'm not qualified to interpret the results, but I think piece of poo is the most interesting one any has admitted to yet, lol.

I won't think less of you VDL, I promise. I've seen that kind of pictures myself...though it's not anything that I personally hoard, lol.

No way I could give up my diet pepsi now. It's the only sweet part of my day!

Yeah, I probably still have a bit too much sugar in my diet, too -- I'm doing a lot better, though. But I figure one thing at a time, right?

Natural Peanut Butter.

Is anyone else hooked on it?? I know a couple tablespoons are fine.. but I can put down a whole jar without knowing if I'm not careful.

I'm with you on that one....I just ate well over 2 tbs :(
 
Peanut butter is DA BOMB :p I have to stay away cause a couple of tablespoons leadst to a few more and before you know it .... I've eaten 2 cups of peanut butter ....
 
Protein bars!! You may not think that sounds bad but when you eat them everyday, sometimes several a day, it's bad. It's difficult cause I have to sit here staring at shelves and shelves full of them all day long here in my store.

Otherwise I'd say sweets in general like cookies & chocolate but I really don't have any access to them so it's not much of a problem. :)
 
My Saturday night margaritas......

they have to go soon....my trainer is cutting me off.....i've givin up all the other good stuff....sweets, cokes, diet cokes, junk food, pizza.....
 
Wyst.. .. I crave pickles, chocolate and crap now... LOL!

I'm a sugar addict...or I should say I WAS a sugar addict. I've actually given up all bad eating habits, for the most part. My diet is pretty solid but when I do crave skittles sometimes (sugary stuff like T.V described.. jelly beans.. etc..YUMM) I luv chocolate too of course... but don't eat it:(

and on the peanut buuter front...don't even get me started. I can't have it in my house anymore. It's just dangerous so It has to be cut out cold turkey ! It's ALLLLL or nothing for me!

What's going here lately?? Is everyone dieting hard or what??? There are so many craving, dieting threads... STOP IT!! It's just reminding us all about the delicious things we try not to eat! waaaaaaaaaa!!!

My main love choc-chip cookies, and that's just something I'm not going to give up. If I do, the whole house of cards that is my diet and workout regime will implode on itself (I tried it). I've eliminated other vices, and that was no small feat. My physique will just have to suffer some for the cookies - besides I can't go naked all the time! :p (and I'm sure jail food isn't all that great) When I have them, I only indulge in the VERY best (always warm and fresh baked). So when I'm tempted by other things, I remind myself how much better those cookies will be if I just wait.
 
Somehow, by hook or by crook, over the past 10 years or so, I've managed to give up every unhealthy vice I ever had - speed, weed, acid, E, uppers, downers, powders, pills, cigarettes, booze (haven't had one single drink in a month), and on Monday I will finally make an all-out, no-holds barred attack on .... coffee! I drink 5 or 6 cups a day, and finally figured out it's messing with my diet - I don't like black coffee, so I put skim milk in it - THIS ADDS UP.

From now on - ONE morning cup, then herbal tea. I intend to explore the depths and breadths of the herbal tea market - I will have cranberry, gooseberry, blackberry, earl grey, orange, lemon, green tea, black tea, oolon tea, rosehip tea - I will have an orchard of fruits and a garden of herbs in my humble coffee cup.

way to much artifical crap...
would love to buy everything organic..but that stuff is sooo $$.

I know i have too much equal for a start..diet soda..and diet jelly....such crap!!! but soooo
necessary!;)

Well, you may have something there...I realized this morning that I something else to give up...staying up too late. I have only been getting about 4 hours of sleep a night all week. I've been superbusy so it's not entirely my fault, but...yawn...I should tone down the late-night component of my elitefitness career a bit. I gotta start getting at least 6 a night again, and then start trying to actually get 8...

I love cookies and that kind of thing but I generally don't have that stuff around my house. Luckily my honey likes things like artifically flavored cookies, an assortment of twinkies and cupcakes, etc....but I have never liked that stuff.

Ice cream is my demon. I just can't have it around. I swear I can hear it calling me and tempting me from the freezer "Katie-- I'm so lonely. I'm just a half gallon of oreo ice cream...if you eat all of me, I won't be in the freezer anymore....". It's horrible. I had Jeremy go grocery shopping for me. Gave him a nice list of chicken, veggies, etc. He bought that and 2 cartons of ice cream he thought I'd like :bawling: No more letting him go grocery shopping. I think I live with the only 25 year old male in the world who chooses his cereal based on the prizes....

I used to live on bagels when I first got out of school...cause entry level salaries and rents in manhattan do not match..and hey..50 cents for a bagel for dinner fit my budget...

I've been really good the last 6 weeks...only indulging a few times...

grr...my sis went out and bought my fav thing..hawaiian bread...

My sweets are more creative than that when they call me. If they said that to me, I would say, "Like I care if you're lonely? Better you hang out with my frozen veggies, whole wheat pita bread & ice than next to my glutes & hamstrings!"

Instead they say, "Gladi, eat me & all your problems will go away. You feel SO MUCH BETTER & won't have me pestering you anymore, anyway."

:( I'm still working on ignoring all the time.

Ive basically given up on all my fave things such as ice cream, chocolate, burgers, ohhhhhhh Mc Donalds you name it ive given it up coz im doing the Bfl Diet

Damn I miss my junk food :(

I managed to quit smoking for about 1 year, then had a few smokes in about november last year. SInce then I havent touched one and havent even craved one. Its such a nice feeling not to have a craving. The best way to stop is this

Ok well what made me realy want to stop was prooving that I could. When i had a smoke in November my boyfriend said to me that I couldnt do it that I had no will power and that just pissed me off and made me want to prove I did and I could, and it worked :)

RICE!

It drives me crazy not to be able to eat more rice. I used to eat it just about every day.

I had rizotto (sp?) yesterday, lol, so I guess I'm not doing quite as well there as I had hoped. It's been ages since the last time, though...

OK -- Fri was day 1 of my 6 months comp prep. No more fun for sassy :( Good thing I already "embrace the lifestyle".

The motivation to "quit" all my vices is my continual chat regarding bb: "If you're gonna do it, do it. Otherwise, don't."

Simple as that. Do you know I have been allowed 1 diet coke PER WEEK! OMG! But then .. if you're gonna do it, do it AND QUIT YER GODDAM WHINING! (I tend to talk to myself alot :rolleyes: )
 
ONE diet coke PER WEEK!!? Why the limit???

BTW - good luck girl - funny how time starts acting like an accordion when you've got a very specific deadline.
