Women only gyms.

How many people here go to, or know someone that goes to a women only gym.
In Burnaby B.C. there is a man suing because a local women only gym denied him membership. I'm thinking that women go there to avoid the leering of testosterone laden men. Or if the women are uncomfortable with their physique, to avoid the judgement of above mentioned men.

LOL. We've discussed this one many times in the past. Double standard.

A lot of women probably feel more comfortable working out without men around. Try being a girl and walking in a weight room full of leering men and getting a good workout. The cooliest gym I ever belonged to had a women's only section. I liked it simply because the machines were scaled down to female's bodies. It rocked.

Personally, I don't see a prob with it. I just go to the gym to work out. I don't mind scoping the hotties, but that's not why I'm there.
I feel the same for the women. If they wanna go workout without worrying how their makeup is, or their hair (& we know they do), then they can. They can do those deep sqats or bent over rows without worrying about some clown's head in the way.

I use to work out in the women's section of our gym because they had some good equipment. I don't think anyone ever complained. Maybe once.

well at the few gyms that i have been to i would say that prolly only 1/3 of the women whether they be huge fucking fatasses or hot chicks are there to workout out..

the other 2/3 are just looking for cock old and young!!!

No offense to the women here because most of you really know what your doing in the gym.

Unfortunately 99.5% of chicks at every gym I've belonged to have either gotten in my way, talked with their girlfriend for prolonged times in front of a machine, used terrible form, or did I metion gotten in my way?

There a time to pick up girls and chit-chat and for me the gym is not one of those times, by any means. If they want their own gym I am ALL for it.

My gym is co-ed. I started going there because as a beginner I found it to be more comfortable than Golds and some of the warehouse gyms in the area. I would hate going to a female only gym. Ilove the energy of the free weight room despite being the only female in there. At first it was uncomfortable, but the men now respect me and my workouts. I've never had to deal with the being hitting on thing. I also go early, so maybe that's is the reason.

theres some guy where I live thats trying to sue a womens only gym for discrimination on males, it'll be kinda funny to see what happens there.

It doesn't bother me. What bothers me, is when they try to make a HUGE ordeal when a woman tried to get into a men's only place. let it be golf or a gym. There's a "small" men only gym near me. Fairly hardcore is why though

You from B.C.? This could be the guy I was reading about.

I work out at Golds, which has a women's only section. Men are absolutley NOT allowed in there unless they are a personal trainer working with a woman. When I first started, I ONLY went into the women's area because I was very self-conscious about my lack of form/strength/etc. My trainer did a good job of getting me comfortable and easing me into the main floor. Once I found the free weights, I fell in love with weight lifting. LOL.

Our local womens only gym has very little in the form of free weights. It's mostly some cable machines and a LOT of cardio equipment. They also have a shitload of aerobics classes - which you can't really find at my Gold's. But if a woman got serious about weight lifting she would outgrow the women's only gym in my area fairly quickly.

As for the guy sueing... he is probably facing an uphill battle. Private businesses have a lot more latitude about whom they choose to serve - and not serve.

Yep, they still held the gold tournament at the Men's Only club. Although, I do agree its a double standard.

If people in general were simply more respectful of others there wouldn't really be a need for "only" anything.....

The harassment I face from men daily just walking down the street would probably steer me towards a women's only gym if they had the setup I'd need......

I worked in a women's only gym doing electrical work for them, couple of days...

They can be mean women, that's all I'm saying... Animals. When women get together, they seem more daring.

women of all ages have always liked me
so its hard for me to see them in a bad light
even when they are bitchy

I have seen some real bad seeds, but I separate them form the rest of women society

That would be a loss of infinite magnitude to the clientele of your current gym, Jens. Some men have no couth at the gym tho, leering and hitting on the women in there. Guys, a word of advise, at least do the mirror bankshot.

I recently started using a gym again, my equipment was dragging me down, motivationally speaking. At my gym, the women normally wait to check us guys out when they are on the cardio equipment which happens to look down over the free-weight area.

I don't think women should work out at all. Women are frail and fragile. There's no reason we should be lifting anything heavier than a 5 pound bag of flour or a baby. Nor is there any reason we should be moving around quickly enough to make our dainty little selves break a sweat (unless our man is calling us).

No - the guys at my gym are pretty respectful towards me. They are polite & complimentary in a nice way.....

I was referring to people on the street - leering & catcalling. If I had a diff. personality & people at the gym treated me that way - I could see someone (a woman) being "afraid" of the gym or wanting an environment away from that.....

Oh, and lifting weighs could cause our pretty little hands to be rough. That's a horrible thought. We should be soft and dainty-- frail and submissive.

I was only saying that because you said you would think about a women's only gym if they had the equipment setup for you. the men respect you because they know you are hardcore and can achieve what goals you set for yourself, not some cardio bunny looking for her next booty call.
