interesting job reports lately? Just curious what is going on out there....seems like it may be picking up.
Overall Unemployment is still on the rise even with 428 K new jobs last month then net results was a loss of 30 K.

The Latest I read was that traditional summer jobs for kids in the fast food / low end services sectors are not there because displaced adult workers have taken those.

Does that seem like things are picking up to you?

In 2000 Michigan had an Unemployement rate of 3.2%. Now you are around 5.8 to 6.0 %.

Ugh.

I have noticed an increase in professional job postings/listings........but not much in the form of manufacturing. That would explain the current rate in Michigan.

Another thing to consider is as reservist are called up from professional positions they're jobs will need to be filled for x amount of time. So the more people Bush can send to war out of the reserves then the more jobs that can be filled for about 6 - 12 mnths by the unemployed.

To make this point more macabre, every KIA leaves a permanent job vacancy. The longer this war goes on the more jobs will become available, in 10 years you'll have a labor shortage.

A purer economic truth has never been spoken.
