Wireless Network help

SoreArms

New member
I have a wireless network at home and I've sucesfully set up my laptops and desk tops in the past. I jsut got a new lap top with built in wireless. I have configured the wireless netwrok settings and it shows that I'm connected but I can't access the itnernet. My old laptop (that I'm using right now) seems to have more setting options than my new. For example, the new one doesn't an option for a channel, while my old one does.

I've set up:
work group
SSID
network key
wep

what else am I missing?

LOL WTF? workgroup doesnt mean shit. don't use WEP you fairy!~ WPA PSK biatch!

Pintoca showed me this nice graph one time about what channel to use, dont remember where it's from though.

Post it up, I'm about to set up my own wireless network here in a couple of weeks. It's all sitting in boxes on the kitchen table right now.

If I'm not on the same workgroup I can't be part of my network. The new PC doesn't have a channel setting. THis is the first PC I try to set up with built in wi fi, my other laptops have all used PCMCIA cards tht usually have a utility with tons more settings that seem to make it easier.

Dude, PM Blut Wump or Dial_Tone....those dudes know their shit. Pintoca does too, but he just left for some kind of el-fago vacation.

I restored it to the earliest restore point available and it's now working. I must have deleted something useful thinking it was junk.
