wireless help

I have wireless in my house, and I just decided I wanted to set up my old laptop to run on it.

the old lap top is a toshiba, running windows 98. it obviously did not come with a wireless card. so i bought a usb wireless adapter today at best buy. i can't install the drivers from the cd though, whenever i click install i get an error message and nothing happens.

am i fucked? is there any other way to get around this? the box doesn't mention windows98 compatibility, but i asked the guy there, and he said as long as it was broadband and i had a router it should work fine, and i could return if it didn't work.

i'm not in the mood to return it if i don't need to (yeah, i'm lazy). so what can i do here?


its a dynex (aka shitty) adapter. K donations to whomever can help me solve this.

i doubt the drivers will work on a 98 machine

go to dynex's site and redownload the drivers onto a usb jumpdrive and try to install on the windows 98 machine, see if that works

if not, ur pry fugged

yeah thats what i figured (and why i asked the dude there BEFOREHAND), but he assured me it'd be fine.

now i gotta go back and return it, cause that fucker was talking out his ass.


anyone know of a wireless card that will support 98?

i used to have thee pcmcia slot-to-ethernet adapter, which worked fine, but i lost it. and didn't see any at best buy.
