Winter Bulking? WHY?

Nelson Montana

Personally, I don't get the "winter bulking" thing. What's the point? You won't be walking around in a T shirt so it's time to add mass? What are we, frickin polar bears? If I want to add mass, I have no problem doing it in the summertime. And you still have to get naked in the winter. I don't see the purpose of being a bodybuilder just to make exuses to a girl when I take my clothes off; "Sorry I'm a fat bloated sack of blubber baby. I'm BULKING." Fuck that.

Too many people treat steroid use like a pro competitor who adjusts it to peak at a specific time. I think the fun about being a bodybuilder is looking god-like ALL the time. And juice helps that along the way. Hell, when I was on, I wanted to SHOW it! If I wanted to bulk, and wasn't concerned with anyone seeing me , I'll EAT more. And save the sauce for when I wanted to show off.

Just another perspective.

Also I think the people that do this, do 2 cycles per year.

One in the Spring, going into the Summer. That's their cutter.
One in the Fall, going into the Winter. That's their bulker.

See...that's my problem in GENERAL. 25 hard years of developing the fat around the middle.... My goal is to gain muscle and LOOSE fat in the process. I am a miracle of science. I can eat LETTUCE and gain weight... fat weight. (the WHO is coming to do tests on me to solve world hunger!!! (by the way, I stole that line from Alwyn Cosgrove).. Anyway, I've been lifting for years...and genetically, I hit the wall (years ago!!) , so I'm using this cycle (which Nelson suggested) to see how my body reacts...and I'm NOT overeating... though I am eathing clean and plenty. I don't see getting FAT and BLoATED all winter....and I hate seeing it in the gym too. I have a hard enough time loosing it, even though I teach RPM (indoor cycleing) and get about 4 hours of HIIT cardio in per week!!.... I would think that anyone would want to look fantastic with the shirt off...year round. I've a long ways to go!

u aint the only on who can eat lettuce & gain weight. i dont have the problem with any extra fat around the middle anymore.

people would be suprised at how few calories i take in to maintain 230. i dont do "bulkers". i gain the most muscle when trying to cut.

Great post - terrific point. It's a year-round lifestyle for me.

just because its a winter bulker dosnot mean every 1 will get fat only the lazy will.
my winter bulk will still be clean and should keep some abs...ish I just ditch the cardio and the no carbs of a night thing.

Can't agree more!

Nelson I get what you are saying. My thoughts are that I think more people bulk up in the winter because its a lot easier to gain weight during winter months because most people are less active. While I'm like you and agree that I could care less when I bulk up, I have also noticed that it is much easier for me to bulk up during the winter than the summer. Due to the fact that I'm outside more and tend to play summer sports. Just my 2 cents.
