winny - marketing question

i'm putting together a marketing program for an assignment in my class... for burton snowboards... right now i'm trying to use the market-porduct matrix...

so far i have a product development for the snowboards but i need to think of market penetration, diversifcation, and market development for this company... ugh.. i'm not feeling creative today.

any ideas/suggestions?
 
i only took the one manditory marketing class in second year and have never taken another. i found that it is just a class where they give big names to concepts that are for the most part common sense for the average intelligent business student.

you typically dont want to have price be the main attribute to your penetration. snowboards is a pretty shitty product to put have to use the market-product matrix. give me some shit that you have for product development.

ok i suggested for product development coming up with new designs because the info i have says that that's what's hot right now.. and snowboards are hot right now... to keep up with the demand.

for market penetration i suggested they lower the cost of a few of the boards that would appeal more to masses, then expanding distribution of those to chains... and have the other more specialty boards in the same specialty shops... keeping the loyalty they have with the specialty shops but also expanding.

for diversification i suggested maybe starting up a burton snowboard magazine and maybe sponsoring an annual competition...

for market development i'm stuck at the moment...

how long do these reports have to be??? do i have enough? or should i come up with more stuff?

is it ok if some of the shit you have already exists? cus i'm pretty sure burton sponsors many competitions. personally, i dont think you should hve anything to do with lower prices in your market penetration. lower prices is typically what a student will settle for in market pen. cus he/she cant think of anything else. profs know this. for diversification, take a look at getting burton to start producing skiis(if they dont already). cus boards are so hot, they will more than likely cool off and when they do, you would like to take advantage of the the effect that the cooling off of boards will have on skiis. because snow boards are hot right now, you may find it difficult to come up with a market development.

how long are these things supposed to be? i did swot analysis, market-product matrix, and a short marketing program suggestion... just needs an introduction and a conclusion... damn this is gonna be short... how long should it be?
 
ask your fucking professor how long it should be. there is no set length around the world.

for grading purposes, i would keep it short and to the point. some profs like a lot of bullshit, some dont. you will be the best judge of what your prof wants, not i. for product development, try thinking of things that would convert skiiers into snowboarders. also i would say to try and think of something that will get skateboarders to use your product but probably 90% ,at the very least of them, do snowboard so thats pretty pointless. personally i would have never picked a product that is 'hot'.
