Wine Drinkers

question about wine because i'm clueless.

i got my hands on a bottle of wine that's now 18 years old. it's been opened and it's half gone. there's some small pieces in the bottle, but i think they're cork, cause the cork is kinda screwed. It's Ernest and Julio Gallo Northern Sonoma Zinfandel.

question one - is it still good to drink?
Question two - is it worth drinking?

i also picked up a bottle of a "local" wine from Bucks Country Vineyards which is in New Hope, PA. it's a Pennsylvanis Niagra. bottle is still sealed. no clue on the age, although i'd imagine this bottle has been sitting around for 10 years.

didn't pay for either of them, so no money wasted. just curious about all of it cause i don't normally drink wine, but occasionally i have people over that do and i don't care to poison them (or if the first one is bad, then i have a few people that i would like to have drink it  ).

thanks.

the opened one is most likely vinegar by now....depending on how long it's been opened.

the other one should be fine.

dunno how long it's been opened. for all i know it might've been opened for 10 years.

i figure the other one is A OK cause it's still sealed shut. i'd like to know how old it is, but there's no indication of age on it. won't even cheap wines get better with age? the company's phone number is on the bottle. maybe i'll give them a call and see if there's anything on the bottle or the label that could indicate about how old it is.

maybe i'll try the opened one to see if it's vinegar or not. i'm brave, and it's alcohol :)
