Windows 7 versus Windows 8

I've got an Apple Air 11" and I'm going to put Windows on it.

Would you do Windows 7 or Windows 8?

I'm thinking Windows 7.

7; 8 is going to fail as big as Vista did.

Xp, vista, win 7, win 8
Hit, miss, hit, miss

Coincidence? Pretty sure they fuck it up to force you to buy the os right after the Fuck up. ;)

Guess I should get 7 since Ive had vista on my laptop the whole time FML

I ordered my parents a new iMac a few weeks back and partioned it with windows 8. It seems to work just fine. Especially for what little windows will be used.

Doesn't 7 have Aero too?
It does but the functionality is less buggy, also 90% of win 7 copies were sold default at 64-bit so idiots can see the +4GB RAM they chose to buy/use, as opposed to Vista that was mostly 32-bit and was a hot mess with anything under 2GB, but then again the OS didn't show/support the full amount... and then the calls came in...:worried: man... those calls fuuuuuck

I'm having an Alienware/Dell flashback :bawling: worst weeks ever!

I guess they're going to come out with an 8.1 that'll bring back the start menu.

I run them both - windows 8 on my HTPC and windows 7 on my main rig. Some complex networking stuff is more straightforward on windows 7, windows 8 boots faster. I used a program to get the start menu back and windows 8 works just as well as windows 7.

I dont know why people get so homo about the issue.

Win 8 boots fast because it doesn't shut down it goes into sleep mode. I have Win 8 on a cheap laptop that I use for a media center and I don't like Win 8, first off it's updating all the time so far over a gb of updates. It's supposed to make things easier but it always wants you sign into a MS account and other things that cause me concern on the security front. If you like having a million programs open and running in the back ground then Win 8 is for you. It's basically a cell phone interface so if you don't have a touch screen then it's not all that easy to do anything.

They came out with a fix for the no-start button on the screen thingy...they're fixing some shit up, but yeh it always takes them 3 versions to get it right.

I will move over to Win 8 when SP2 comes out.

Yup -- I went with Windows 7.

I really don't like fuxoring with computers. If I'm going to play with a computer, it's not going to be bit-bashing rocket code.

I had some bluescreen issues with my verizon 4g lte air card.
I had to do a refresh (basically reinstall) because the upgrade from 7 to 8 created a buggy laptop
After refresh and installation of updates using the Win Toolkit from WinCert Forums my installation is mostly stable

Whos the puppet in your avi now?

I had one experience with Windows 8, and it was NEGATIVE. We got a new laptop for my mother-in-law, and there were all kinds of issues, so we took it back to Costco and got one that still had Windows 7. Among these issues; No way to get drivers for any printers older than 15 minutes, and it wouldn't cooperate with the wi-fi in their house, and our bought & paid version of Adobe Photoshop full version wasn't compatible, even though it works fine with all other versions of Windows including Windows 95.
