what was your placing at the bodybuilding contest?
i placed 1st in my first show as a novice, and my second show in the open i finished 3rd. there will be guys who dont even look close as good as you beat you because they sucked ass and cried to the judges. its not who you know its who you blow

well as long as you stay healthy and strong is all that really counts.

I think I might try it out in 2 years or so. I need to cut down to 10% first and see what I need to work on

hopefully a few shows... one end of june (practice) and on end of july. diet already started. these will be my first shows hopefully if school isn;'t to crazy this summer.

I haven't done a show in many years, but I am working with a client on getting him into shape for a show. He's superheavy, placed 2nd last time, wants to go 1st and overall this time.

I dont compete, but my girlfriend is doing a show in about 3-4 months. I think its in Toronto, but Id have to ask her to be sure.. It will be her second time competeing in the fitness/figure competition..

I would love to in a couple of years.
One thing at a time.

Im doing a strongman competition in July. Going to use it as my goal to gain as much mass as possible and then I will dice from there. Maybe BB comp in the future.

Yes. Competing is the greatest. To all of you BB's who are on the fence trying to decide whether you are "big" enough, I say take the plunge and just do it! In your mind's eye, you will NEVER be big enough. Conquer that demon. There is so much more to winning a contest than being big. You think training is hard? Try dieting for 12-16 weeks!!! Plus, after you have been on that stage, there's a certain amount of respect you will carry with you that all the size in the world can't buy.

I'm too tall

That would be sweet.. I love that brute strength stuff! Mariusz Pudzianowski, love that guy..

competed in the 90's, won my state title, 2 rounds in nationals with top three placings. Nowadays, it's just too difficult getting the gear I need.

How strong are you bro?

I'm tall too. It is hard to come in big enough when you are over 6'. I will be competing in my first competition in a few weeks (april 22, NPC Iowa State). Just remember tall guys, Arnold competed at anywhere from 220-250 in his day. Which, yes, would not do much on todays circuit. But, wouldn't we all be cool with looking like he did in Conan the Destroyer?- supposedly 220 lbs. at 6'1.5" I will be in the heavies I'm pretty certain. Leaning out is a bitch- more the losing size/weight part, as I have always been a skinny dude. I hope to come in at a tight 205-210 at 6' 1.75" Keep in mind, I said this would be my first competition, and it's Iowa, not California! Would love to win the Iowa State someday, maybe even the Midwest Open and just compete in a national show....

I respect anyone, in any shape, who has the balls to get out there and show. Last week I was at a show where everyone was asking why on earth was this in-shape (but comparatively skinny) guy was even competing until Shawn Ray announced that this former fattie took an oath to take the stage if he lost 100lbs and this was "his" competition-you should have heard the crowd's applause! It's all about self-improvement and competing with ourselves. Right on, Jacob, I will be rooting for you!

Cool, thanks todovoritas! Actually, I should look pretty good, I hope. With a small bone structure and broad shoulders, 205 ish proabably won't really be that far off at a contest of this level. The one time I visited this contest before there were only 20-25 competitors, I'll likely be in the upper middle range- depending on turn out. Good to have all the moral support possible.

I wonder how heavy I would have to be at 6'6" 300@5%bf?

6'6"? Geesh. I would guess that at a local/state show you would want to come in at at least 235-250 and, of course, pretty decent condition.

Remember that book "Muscle: Confessions of an Unlikely Bodybuilder" ? It was written by Sam Fussel who was 6'4" and lanky. He came into one show at 235, I believe and was smooth. Then, shortly after, competed at 222 lbs. and actually didn't look half bad. I would look at the pictures from that book, as well as read it. It's hilarious in parts and very entertaining.

Read my sig! "In the final Arena there will be no judges, only witnesses to my greatness! Silly book but funny!

I don't think most people realize that they do not have to be as big as a pro in stat comparison's to compete. Most people will not reach 250lbs at 5%BF.
