i want to increase strength as fast as possible with little or no mass gain. i am thinking about using a power training routine that i read about in one of Arnold's books. It goes like this:
warm up with a very high rep set 10-20
jump up to a weight that allows 5 reps
then 3
then do a few sets with huge weight that only allows for 1-2 reps.
a routine similar to this worked very well with dead lifts.
what i was thinking of is working up to a heavy single with 95-100% of max(right now 245-255) then resting for a minute. then doing another single, eventually doing 3 or four singles. then doing some extra shoulder and tricep work.
and if anyone has any suggestions as to how i should warm up to 245 without burning myself out at all i would like to hear it.
do you all think this will work for bench-presses or is this taking the low rep hight weight thing too far?
any feed-back/suggestions will be very appreciated
