will taking ibuprophen slow progress?

I've heard many times that you have to be careful when taking ibuprophen because it will hamper your gains when trying to gain muscle. Does anyone know of any studies to back this up? If so, what dosage do you have to take to slow gains in building muscle, and is it really that bad that you have to worry about it while on gear?

With my injury history, if that is true...I am FUCKED!!!! Working out with one nut will slow your progress, that I am sure of!
 
pleanty of big guys that take Ibuprofen

note I said in comment 2 that for some it may help with specific needs

but IDEALLY we should try to go with out it.
 
I haven't noticed any slowed progress if it's true... I pop them when I need to for my lower back.

Moderation and balance is key with most things.
 
when I get into powerlifting sometime I pop 6 at a time. A sports therapist I saw said it was alright to do (occasionaly).

It might hinder muscle gains but so what? Being in pain sucks, and it has some good anti-inflamatory characteristics.
 
The research on it does seem to indicate that it could interfere with muscle growth. If you have to use it, use it. If you can live without it, I would say pass on it.
 
There is no way in hell that taking ibuprofin when you NEED to is going to do anything other than take pain away. Even taking it 2-3 times per week is not going to hinder muscle growth. If that were true (and I do take it 2-3 times per week at 800-1000mg) than where has my muscle growth come from. It can't be from gear because I just started my first cycle three weeks ago. My reply is not a sarcastic one. I am just stating a simple fact based on my own experience. Then again some people are really anal about everything.
