i have been running, running, running. i think i see a difference in the love handle area. any suggestions on something? if i continue running everyday, approximatly 2 miles per day, will i drop some major weight?
thanks for any input...

ok........

thanks Plorn...but i am still a little confused. I run about 2 miles a day...this is a big feat for me. i have very bad shins and me accomplishing this has made me so happy. my boyfriends said he sees a difference but who knows.
i'll be honest. i really dont eat that much. i work at the beach, so do my cardio in the morning, drink water and come home and have some fruit for lunch. then i will have some grilled chicken for dinner. i certainly dont see a difference in my thighs! : )

Run and eat a caloric deficit and you will lose WEIGHT.

But since you want that weight to be fat make sure your diet is clean. Good carbs and enough protein.

The thighs will be a problem. This where women have a high level of alpha 2 adreno receptors. It can be done but it will usually be the last to go. Basically you could have a six pack and still have fat on your thighs.

You could try yohimbine. I don't know how effective pills are but I think some on the board had decent progress with yohimburn.

- You`ll notice more weight loss in the midsection from anytype of cardio than you will on other body parts. Abdominal fat is more readily used during cardio than other fat is.

you have to run for at least 40 minutes if you really want to burn fat

well i wana know what u guys think about leg weights..

since having my wisdom teeth out i weigh 45kg, and am 5"6..so very light.
I have not been to gym for 2 weeks..and my thighs are noticeably smaller...
i want small legs! but not 'skinny fat' ones..how can i keep small thighs without them being wobbly?

Rez, are you female? If not, 45 kilos is too light. How old are you?

Anyway, to answer your question. Do squats and lunges. Alway include lunges or squats on your leg day. You will not get big legs overnight. As they grow, and begin to reach where you want them, you can ease off on how much weight you use, and how many sets you do untill you find the right weight, reps, and sets for mantaining them.

yes im female, 22yrs old.
i got my body fat tested at the gym a couple of weeks ago..and he told me it was 8%..thats got to be a mistake right? ide have to be a marathon runner to have such a low bf%?

8% for a female is VERY low
it must be a mistake :) :)

(it is already pretty low for a guy)

hacksquats with the swiss ball and stiff legged deadlifts are always good choices :)

Yeah, but I don`t like to recommend either of those two.
I`ve noticed people have a higher tendency to drop down/ forcibly lock out when doing hack squats. I have to be carefull myself. I think it`s just harder to stick with proper form doing hack squats than alot of other leg exercises.
I love deads, but I don`t think I`ll ever do them again. This exercise has too high a risk of injury. Even if you use a weight light enough for you to easily do proper form, you`re going to get tired doing them. That`s going to make it harder and harder with each rep to keep correct form. Eventually, you are going to do some with less than stellar form.

Q,

with the swiss ball this is less of an issue and the question was asked by a woman (who while they can train hard and heavy, usually dont have the ego issues that males do which push them to lift more wieght than necessary to achieve the results.. though there are exceptions..)

btw- the swiss ball is nice because it really smoothes out the motion and allows for both back support and strict form.

will squats make your legs bigger? i am running and trying to slim down my legs, not bulk them up.
what type of excercies do you think i can do to slim down?

MP:

You`re right about the swiss ball hacks, so I have to agree weither I want to or not :)

And your comment about ego trips reminded me of a girl I`ve seen doing deads with a broom stick handle! Personally, I think that`s a waste, but I don`t see too high a risk of injury :mix:

Chloe:

- Yes Squats will build your legs, but I`m 99.9% sure they will not build your legs the way you think they will. It`s hard to build any significant amount of muscle. Alot of women fear lifting any weight because they are afraid they will like female bodybuilders. Believe you me, if it was as easy as alot of women think, I`d be 400 lbs with 1% bodyfat. :)

- Seriously though, don`t be afraid to do squats. It will take you a fairly long time to add any significant size from muscle. You`ll easily be able to tell a difference. If you are truely concerned that you will be unable to tell, measure them(you should do this anyway). Make sure you measure them the same day every week, and the same time on that day. Don`t measure more than once a week as any limb is likely to change slightly from day to day simply by different food and water intake. You should also get a close friend to judge any changes, which is actually a much better indicator than a tape.
- Rather than getting large legs, you might actually slim your legs at first. Squats are top of the list for anabolic exercises, and if they are the only change you make, you may lose bodyfat at a faster rate then you add muscle. Muscle also burns bodyfat, so as you add muscle, you`ll lose fat. This will give you firmer legs, and help curve them better(muscle has shape). Don`t fear that this will make you have muscle legs. Between you and your friend it should be very easy to decide when you are happy with your legs. When that happens just ease off on weight and reps.

- I also think I should mention Lipoderm-Y or Yohimburn again. I`ve never used either of these, but there are alot of people who swear by them. I know of a guy who bought a bottle for his GF for her birthday(she asked). She went down from a size six, to something like a 2. I`m not saying they work, as I haven`t used them and have no personal experience. I just want to let you know that you might want to look into them. Also, you MUST eat fewer calories than you burn. The products are only designed to free up fat from where you apply it. This will basically release the fat from storage, turning it into avalible energy. If it`s not used, it will just be stored again, and all you`ll have managed to lose is your money. Forgive me if you know this already, I am not trying to be condescending.

wow...

Q Modo,
thanks for all of that input! you are awesome! and i didn't know a lot of the things you were telling me so you weren't being condescending. : )
thanks, you are aweosme!

i just purchased NYC from AF. i should be getting it this week and i can't wait to start! i am going to take it easy at first and do lunges like you suggested. i dont want to give myself a heart attack!

thanks again though, i really appreciate you putting the time in to help.
