How would you like it if you were an iraqi businessman, waking up in the morning, opening up your shop, selling your tv and stereo, and boom 20 guys come in and steal all your crap?
If you allow open-looting -- society just tumbles and open anarchy. The have's vs the have-nots openly battle and shoot it out in the street.
They demolished their getaway car. big flippin' deal. Those soldiers should get thumbs up for restoring order through example.

I suspect the Iraq/Arabs hate America because we do not practice, and follow a religious regimen governing our whole way of life. They use religion as a primer for daily everyday life. I think most of them feel, trapped, secretely hating their constrictive beliefs, and customs/restriction between what is "allowed" and "not allowed" and they hate "us" for it. Hating Americans, because we have what they may want, or desire secretively. Although, almost none would admitt this I suspect. I feel strongly, most are just sick and tired with their born into religion restrictions, and the sronghold it has on most, (if not all) of their way(s) of life. I feel they may secretly covet our way of life, knowing they themselves would never be able to have it themselves. This would result in a deepening jealousy, and continued hate for us, and everything that is American.

Practice/ worship, in whatever religious beliefs or customs, you may follow is fine, but once it starts to overcome into taking over rational thought, final decision making, and becomes the "sole governing principal" on which the way you live, and no other.... that gets a little crazy.

They may view America (and the rest of the western world) as decadent infidels, not worthy of respect. They probably have no respect for the western way of life at all. I think envy has very little to do with this. And this is not why they hate the US. If we compare the world to a playground, USA is percieved as the big bully who rule the playground with an unspoken threat of using force (Economical and/or military) to attain their goals. It might not be a realistic view, but in some part of the world that is probably how they're percieved, and that's why America is disliked by so many.
By comparison, Norway has several times been declared by the UN to be the best country in the world to live in. I cant vouch for the truth in this, but we're probably within the top ten anyway. If the envy theory was correct, we would also be subjected to terrorist attacks and hatred. But thankfully we're not
The reason I think they hate America is probably because America side with Israel in all matters concerning Palestine. To most arabs, Israel is the devil, which makes USA the devil's henchman.
Of course all this is very simplified, and I'm far from any specialist in the matter, I kinda like America myself.

As funny as that soldier probably thinks it is, strongarming some iraqi's or destroying his car, that same video is going to be used to recruit terrorists...the pictures from Iraq that makeou laugh (the one that said i killed his dad and knocked up his sister) are the ones that will infuriate muslims, and let them sympathise with terror even more
those soldiers are dicks...there was no reason to completely total the car, i could understand them in frustration shooting the car a few times to let him know its unnacceptable, especially if he didnt know english. but it was just some fuking timber and its not like the coalitiuon has sorted out even basic amenities yet, a YEAR on!

I didn't watch the video, but the reason we are hated is because they are so jealous of what we have. Religion is just some bullshit excuse, but bottom line is they envy us and hate us for it.

Muslim hatred for the US is based on a bunch of things.
1. Muslims think they are gods chosen people and as a result deserve to be the rulers of earth. However they are near the bottom of the totem pole and the US is at the top, so they resent the US.
2. Our culture is seeping into their culture, threatening the very existence of Islamic life as the two cultures are incompatible.
3. Muslims have been using scapegoats for hundreds of years. We're just the newest one.
4. Israel
At least thats what ive picked up. That video was kinda fucked up though, they shouldn't have done that.

I think it is because the US has so many interests in other countries, they have to be involved in everyones biznit. The US, and Canada for that matter, see what is going on in other countries, and are like oh my god! that's just not right! Why is it not right? Because compared to our way of life it isn't, who says what they are doing isn't right. It is just a clash of cultures, only most countries don't have the power to come into the US. How would you like it if Iraqians came into your country, or mine? Just flip the roles for a minute and you'll see what I mean. Just like if you cheat on your girlfriend, just imagine her doing it to you and then you will see how it feels
