Why I was Banned From musclemag.com

mattcanning99

New member
Rather than continually bashing musclemag.com, I will make this post explaining why I was banned from the site. For those of you who are wondering why I was banned, I would say to read this thread if you want the whole story, it does explain my bitterness towards the site, and many of my recent posts on the topic. Ok, here goes...

I spent a lot of time on musclemag.com from July - October, and made about 1600 posts in that time, I helped anyone who wanted my help, posted up my journal in the daily Journal section, and was always willing to email and PM people if they needed my help. I helped anyone who asked, and have many thank you letters in my email expressing gratitude from the members I spent the time advising on the topics of training / nutrition. I was always on good behaviour, and never flamed anyone. That said, one day a moderator, Chrisisdaboy, decided to delete one of my posts for no good reason. So I made a thread politely asking the moderators to email me or PM me if they are going to delete one of my threads (unless there is an obvious reason). All went ok, and the problem was solved, or at least I thought...A while later I made a post, and low and behold, Chrisisdaboy decided to take it upon himself to delete that post as well (with no email or PM giving me a reason why). At this point, I was really angry, but, in the spirit of not causing problems, I politely put up another thread (with the same topic as before...) which read the following:

Subject: Who deleted my post?

"I noticed that one of my posts got deleted again, and I spent some time searching for it, and couldn't find it, only to find that out. I made another thread before asking for you to email or PM me if you are going to delete my posts (unless there is an obvious reason), and I would appreciate that, so I don't have to search for the thread and find out that it is gone. I'm sorry for any problems this may cause, but it would help me out quite a lot if you could take the time to do that. Thanks in advance guys:)"

It took me a lot of effort to stay calm and polite, but I thought it would be for the best...I even ended the thread with a smiley face, as seen above...

Then, of all things to happen, within minutes - THAT POST GOT DELETED. By then, I was just furious. It take A LOT to make me mad, and this certainly did. Before that, I bit my tongue, and actually made a polite thread trying to resolve the problem, and this arrogant jerk decided to just delete it, as if that would help anyone but himself. By then, I realized that Chris is just one of those people lacking any kind of common sense or common courtesy, so I sent him the following PM:

"Since you aren't willing to deal with the problem, I've taken it to the administrator"

So, after that Chris was mad at me, and wanted to get me banned (even though I did nothing wrong). And since I was a good member who never did anything to deserve a banning, he decided to use one of my good qualities against me...Since I had 1600 posts, he decided to post in the mod forum that I was "spamming" (go do a search of my posts, and objectively ask yourself if I was spamming, and I think the answer is obvious that I was not...But my high post count was the only thing Chris could hold against me, so he did). If I was spamming, then so are several other mm.com members I could name. Like I said, it was the only thing that Chris could hold against me, so he did. A few days later, a moderator posted a thread asking me to stop posting so much in the grey area...I agreed with him that I should do more research, put a smiley face on the screen, the thread was closed, and I did not post any further in the grey. So basically, the whole "spamming" issue came along because Chris wanted me to get in trouble with the other mods by getting them to notice me...He could have picked any number of members with a high post count, and other mods would start noticing it...The point is, they never noticed a problem before he told them to.

A few days later, I realized that one of the moderators on the board had lost his status as mod. Once again, I was upset that the members of the site (who almost all liked his efforts) had abosolutely 0 say in this. So I simply posted a poll asking the members if they would want to see his status given back: (1) yes, (2) no...I thought that the people should decide who the mods are, after all, the site is up for it's members. I also said this (knowing Chris would close or delete the poll upon seeing it):

"If you delete this poll, I will take it to the administrator" (Who, at the time, I thought had some amount of common sense, maturity and / or intelligence...Now I know he is deficit in all three)

Anyway, the poll went on, and finally Chris sent me a PM saying he was going to delete the poll, and to be quiet for a while, beause the mods were talking about me. I sent him back this PM:

"are you saying that you are actually going to ban me for stating my opinion? that's ridiculous, but i guess thats your choice...i guess if this stuff keeps happening members will go to abcbodybuilding, or elite...so if you are satisfied with the clientelle (or lack thereof) on this site, then that's fine...you do what you want and so will the members"

He PM'd me back saying my stay on the site is voluntary, and basically, because it is free, the moderators don't need to justify their actions, etc, etc...

I can guarantee you he forwarded that email to the administrator, who then decided to ban me, because (AND SOLELY BECAUSE) he did not like hearing me say anything bad about the site, even though I put it in a frank, liberal way, just stating the facts as they are...

The way I see it is "the customer is always right". For example, everyday, I eat at the residence cafeteria of my university (despite not being a resident), because the service is so good...On the wall, you can post up your concerns / complaints, and the next day, the manager responds to the questions. If the question says "We want more raisin bran", the next day, the manager responds by saying "You will get more raisin bran" (IE, the customer is ALWAYS right). It is because of this, that I am ALWAYS there...This is what good business strategy is all about...It's not about trying to defend yourself, and arguing with the customers, it is all about the ability to accept constructive criticism, and change things accordingly. My friend's brother, Josh, who is 20 years old, is the president of http://www.musclesurf.com, an online supplement website. This guy has made more money than Tim Green (Administrator of musclemag.com) has seen in his life...why? Because people email him, and ask him questions, and he always politely responds to the questions, and always with the customer in mind. On musclemag, if anyone complains about anything, or offers any kind of constructive advice, the mods get on the defensive, and boast about how great the site is, and how they are "fair" in their actions, when all they really need to do is spend some time accepting the constructive advice they get (and not to look at it as an attack), suck it up, and say "Yes, you are right, we are sorry". If they were able to accept constructive criticism from the members, people would like the site A LOT more and maybe Tim Green (AKA Island Ace) could make back some of the $8, 000 a month he spends on network connections to support the site. Ever notice how there are far more registered users on musclemag, but far more active online users on elitefitness?(about 5 times!) The record number of users ever recorded (189) on musclemag is less than the average number of users here on elite at 3 oclock in the morning, lol. Also, the name "musclemag.com" was snagged by Tim before musclemag international could grab the site...So despite having a better name, being around much longer, and having thousands more registered users, people are on elite MUCH more. And the reasons for that are obvious. But instead of accepting the fact that they are making mistakes, and acknowledging that this is affecting their potential supplement sales / user satisfaction, and acting accordingly, they just go on about how great the site is, and how they won't change a thing, because everything is "fair". Hey - I'm not the one who could be making thousands more dollars on that site if the changes are made - Tim is - so I don't really care. In the end, it's his choice, if he wants to do what he has done in the past - FINE - he's the one losing the money, not me, lol.

So, that is the reason I am so mad at musclemag.com. I was banned for no god reason, just because I posted one measly poll asking the members if they wanted an ex moderator to be given back his status, and because Tim didn't want to hear it - THAT IS ALL. The moderators didn't want to hear my opinion, so I got banned (The banning was done by Tim, though). And that is exactly what happened. I was trying to help the site make changes which all the members could appreciate.

My avatar here on elite is the same as my avatar on musclemag (Tim Green, in all his wisdom, now changes the avatar and signature of any banned members to publicly embarass them because, he is trying to prove a point). Little does he know, this "point" he has tried to make has pissed off many members of the site, and makes the site look really stupid. Several of my friends have already stopped posting there because of it.

This is a link to prove how much of a nazi Chrisisdayboy is:

http://www.musclemagazine.com/bb/showthread.php?threadid=41313&highlight=tae+bo

I urge you to read that thread, and you will see what I mean...

I will close with a quote very typical of musclemag.com (It happens to be on the topic of incline benching)

"I'm tired of this suppression of freedom of speech allways editing my posts because I disagree with you. Next I guess you'll start executing people who do inclines."

For those of you who haven't guessed, THIS USER WAS BANNED THE NEXT DAY, lol...By Chris of course...That's what happens when you say something he doesn't like on musclemag.com! For the record, there are many good moderators on musclemag.com:

LAM, IBLiftin, Body Dismorphia, T + P, Pitboss, Thorazine, just to name a few...

The administrator seriously needs to develop some business skills in order to make a profit, and Chris needs to get some people skills, and drop the arrogance.

The signature I use on elite was my signature on musclemag.com, this is what the administrator of musclemag.com has changed it to:

Hey - I'm a complete idiot, so I had to be banned - bye!

This is also what he will do to you if you get banned from the site.

What did I tell you about Tim not being mature?

Maybe I'm making myself out to be a perfect angel here
 Like I did nothing wrong and it was 100% musclemag's fault...that's because it WAS.

So, that is all on that topic, and I won't be saying anymore about how bad the site is, unless the topic comes up...Sorry for annoying anyone before, but I was just a little bit bitter.

to sum it up, i got banned from the site because i posted a poll asking the members if they wanted an ex moderator to be given back his status.
