Why Don't Sick People....

STAY THE F*CK HOME?!?! There's a guy about 15 feet away from me who's been coughing up a lung for like 3 days now. The guy in between me and him is out sick today and I'm the next victim in line. It never fails here....one ass nugget gets sick, won't take the day off so he gives it to 4-5 other people who then each take the day off.
Luckily it's Friday so I don't have to breathe this air for 3 days.

Yeah I hate that. I always called in sick when I worked for a company that didn't count the days against you or even have sick days. If you were sick you were sick... no questions. If you were out for more than 2 consecutive days they wanted to see something from a doc. Worked for me. I hate this sick/flex days crap.

I come in when I am sick so I can spend sick days on someything good! A few times I have been so sick my boss told me to go home.

I imagine most people would like to stay, unfortunately people who run companies in the name of the almighty dollar, frown on such things. People are afraid for their jobs and they need the money. I can't afford to get sick, which is why I haven't been in several years.

That's the problem here. Everybody in the lab is a contractor so if you don't work you don't get paid. I'm normally pretty bulletproof so I get sick about once a year tops and I've already had mine. It just pisses me off when they don't make any attempt to cover their mouth before they cough or stay away from people.

Also, if you are around cute little kids with colds (I know you don't have rugrats of your own yet, but nieces and nephews can sometimes play you even more!) do not ever kiss them when they have colds. They are little and can not or don't want to blow thier noses. The greatest concentration of the virus that causes colds is present in mucous generated in nasal cavities. Those little streams of snot are LETHAL! LOL

I've got some stomach crud and managed to miss going to the office and class this morning, but I made it into work this afternoon. What's funny is my boss went home early because she was sick, so now I'm just playing on her computer and reading a little politics for class until I decide I'm tired of being here. Could be worse I guess.

sad but true. last job i had would give you an attendence bonus every 90 days that you didn't miss work. and they didn't care what type of doctor's note you had or even if you had a court date for something. miss an hour, you'd lose about 1/4 of the bonus. one guy had worked there for 7 years without missing a single day, then got so sick he was in the hospital for 2 days. they took his entire bonus away. i thought being in the hospital was a pretty legit excuse for missing work. bastards.

try the Marine Corps' version of "suck it up." didn't matter how sick you were, you were working. my body temp was bouncing between 96 and 104 one day and i was so sick i could barely stand up on my own. they made me stay and work a full day.

only time they ever let me go home sick was when i caught a stomache bug and was up half the night puking and shitting everywhere (sorry for the visual....ok, i'm not sorry!). i was so dehydrated, they ended up giving me 2 full IV bags. i didn't even bother getting into my cammies, i just showed up in sweats. i was about to get my ass chewed for it too until i said "i got dressed and then shit myself cause i'm so fucking sick i can't control anything....want me to wear shitty clothes to work?! would you like to go back to the barracks with me and see my uniform?!" i hadn't actually shit myself, but it got everyone off my ass real quick, and absolutely no one wanted to check to see if i was lying or not

if your boss is ever really hammering your ass cause you're late as hell, try the "i shit myself" excuse. no one will ever question it and they'll not only excuse your tardiness, they'll apologize. this, however, isn't something that you wanna say on a weekly basis unless you want everyone to think you've got serious shitting problems.

We get 5 sick days per year & those 5 days include jury duty & bereavement -- god forbid you get all that!

Our mgmt are complete asses when it comes to being out sick -- we have to file for disability if we are out sick for 4 days in a row.....

Well when you work at the bottom, there isn't much room for sick days. We get 3 sick days a quarter. If those are used up, you better get your ass to work or it's a written warning then a termination if it goes beyond that. Shit always slides downhill

For what it's worth I'm one of those sick people and I'm staying home. About every 15 min I have liquid manure running down my legs. Worse part is I'm running out of TP to pad my underwear and plug my hole.
