why does muscle milk have such a hype?

hey guys,
stupid question for u guys... i bought a bottle of muscle milk about 2-3 weeks ago and now its gone. so i went to gnc today, where it is $31 for the 2.4 lb. it seems its incredibly expensive, specially since a 6lb 100% whey protein was the same price. when i asked the guy there, what the difference was, he told me the only difference was taste. im sure there is more to it, i think one serving of musle milk is like 640 calories.... but is that it? what makes it so good?
i ended up buying the 6 lb container of whey, but should i have bought the muscle milk? does it matter? kind of a dumb question, but just wanted your opinions. what do u guys think?

It can be had on the net for $16.00 plus shipping. GNC is the devil. I think it tastes good but I wouldnt use it 3 times a day or during a cutting phase.

Agreed 100%
try massnutrition.com very good prices and very fast shipping

What i don't get is how it suggusts for post w/o use. No carbs? I use it as a meal replacement of before bed, but why would one use it post workout?

I only use it as post workout, pushes carbs back into your system plus protein, I take my regular whey 3 other times a day, also I chug it after my workouts, I like the hint of sweetness also after I have been drinking water all thru my workout

I use it as a meal replacement. Usally breakfast. I dont have time to cook and I can get in a good 500+ cals with skim/nofat milk ice in a blender and its damn good. Whats not to like? I get it for about 25$ at the local Vitamin Shoppes that have new deals all around town. Cheaper then any other food.

imo it is best used pre-workout, it will make you sweat a bit more than usual.. its supposed to get you burning fat. i like it, but GNC is a rip-off, even if you have a gold card... :worried:
its supposed to be formulated like a womans breast milk.. i remember i was at the gym with my brother and our friend, and i bought us one each.. our friend had never had one before, and i mentoined it to him that they were formulated similar to breast milk.. he was totally disgusted by that and wouldnt drink anymore.. haha more for me ;)
also if you like the powder and havent tried the RTD's, the RTD's taste way better, though both are good :coffee:

taste? thats it?! i bought gnc 100% whey pro, banana creme flavor. taste amazing, much better than muscle milks cookies and cream.

2 cups of milk, one scoop of peanut butter and 2.5 scoops of banana creme flavored protein = heaven.

i was buying muscle milk case i thought it was good for bulking, but apperanlty its only advantage is flavor...

I use 1 scoop along with 20g of a "lean" protein powder like low carb grow by biotest

The advantage is that it tastes good, I use it as my last meal when the temptation to eat junk is at it's highest for me.

A couple of reasons.... the formulation is specifically created to have anabolic effects.... they use high-quality protein (as stated before, similar to human milk)... and they use "healthy fats" (long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids) and most notably MCT's (medium-chain triglycerides)... both of which are utilized by the body readily as an energy source, rather than storing as fat (like carbs)... that is why the actual carb content is lower... it contains glycocamine also, which is believed to promote the body's production of creatine.... as far as calories go, if you mix it in water, it's 350 calories...you mix it in low-fat milk and it's 640 calories.... finally, it tastes pretty good!

You can find it at supplement warehouse online for $16... even with shipping, it's less expensive than most stores you walk into (especially GNC!)

because the product relies on MCT's and long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, both of which are more likely to be used as energy as opposed to being stored as fat.... personally, I use it an hour before the gym and at bed time.... I still use old-fashioned whey & maltodextrin or dextrose post workout

Something to keep in mind when buying supplements: the more colors on the label, the more expensive it is to print=higher overall cost. Also a 1 page color ad in a muscle magazine costs around 10 grand for 1 month-multiple page ads like Muscletech runs can cost 3-4x that=higher overall cost. This is why I like Beverly International products-very plain 3 color labels and very little advertising pretty much means you're paying lower prices for powder only because their overhead is so low. However the avg consumer will pay extra for pretty packaging and brand recognition through big $$$ advertising campaigns.

I noticed some pretty big gains when I took muscle milk - in my waistline. I guess Im sensitive to all that sugar and fat.

MM is a good product and tastes good..when i have time i go to my local longs and they cary the pre-made ones in a pack of 4 for $5..thats 0.80$ each..cant beat that..

They are losing money because of bad business practices, which include having unsupervised employees.

Doesn't surprise me. I knew a mngr of a GNC and more product "fell off the truck" than was actually sold on any given day. lol I used to get 20 packs of Myoplex from his car trunk for 10 bucks.

lol, yup that's common from what I hear. I think if they just watch their supply chain from backend to frontend, they can be much more profitable.
