why do we become the people we hate?

Maybe the question should be without the "we" part, a bit too broad. This question does not apply to me and I'm sure many others can relate.

It is either one of two things in my opinion....
1) Yeah the grass is greener on the other side type thing. A person is so envious/jealous of what the hated person has/does/etc. that they can not help to try and become them.
2) They just get on there nerves for one reason or another and they do it so often that they hate them eventually.
Just my opinion on the question.

I think you hit right on the head, and some people are so envelpoed in the hatred they never see why they hate the person or people.

We really don't become them, it goes back to a point in your life where you were repressed by those people in some way or form. Therefore you either pick a mate with those traits or pick them up yourself in order to finally correct those mistakes and bring closure.

Ther person I hate the most sometimes is myself. I've come to realize what type of person I am, and I don't like myself sometimes, and I don't like the way I think sometimes... I don't like feeling uncontrolled at times... unable to control my emotions...

I'm with the other guys on this one, chances are you dont hate a person but a certain quality, and you probably hate it because deep down inside you know that an integral part of yourself is consumed by that quality. We fear what we don't understand and we hate what we fear, its the basic human condition my friend, when you face what you fear, you will no longer hate it, that is what truly separates real men from little boys in a man's body.
