Why do people think this is true?

I'm no expert.....but why is it that everywhere I read people state that they gained 20-30 pounds of muscle on a cycle? There's no way in hell that this is possible. How come people don't distinguish fat/water gain from lean mass? If the above were true...wouldn't it take most people 2 years to hit they're max. potential while juicing? C'mon...20-30lbs. for a cycle? No way...you're lucky if you get 6-7 pounds of pure lean mass. What are you're thoughts. Why do people think this?

early cycles I think it is possible to gain 20lbs muscle. I'm going from the fact that I put on 25lbs on my first and that was pretty much all muscle as my arms gained just under 2 inches, and my shoulder span gained an incredible 6 inches (measured around the shoulders), went from 47" to 53", whilst abs started to make an appearance, so very little fat gain if any. 30lbs is probably pushing it but I think you can gain lots in a cycle but the key is to how much you can keep. I would guess that the body couldn't hold onto any more than 20lbs within that short space of time

With all due respect bro -- I'm saying you're full of shit.

No way you kept 25 pounds of muscle. First cycle, maybe 10. After that, five if you're lucky.

As gimp said, where are all the guys who've claimed they make these huge gains on long megadose cycles? They should all be 300 pounds within a year and a half. It's a mass delusion.

Why would I even want to lie about that???

I was a little foolish when starting my first cycle and was well below my genetic limit. I kept about 20lbs, the cycle ended end of Jan 2003 and I'm still well over 20lbs heavier than when I started. Its not fat as I now have a 6-pack which I never did before. I've gone from 11% bf to 9%bf in this previous 10 months.

I know you advocate short cycles, and respect is due, I want to try one, but 20lbs is possible on your first cycle.... I did it!!

Most people who do a serious first cycle can expect to gain about 25 lbs. Of that 25 probably 10 is solid muscle if you've trained right and eaten right. Of that 10 you'll be lucky to keep 7 lbs. There are always exceptions though.

I have never gained anything near 30lbs on a cycle, but if you did I would reckon that:

8-10 is muscle
10-12 is fat
10-12 is water.

I run pretty intense cycles and when they're done, yeah I've probably got 5-7 lbs or so of added lean body mass (although I usually gain 15-20lbs on a bulking cycle).

i agree, actual muscle gains are just a fraction of the total weight gained and people are very often misled by this. which in my opinion is the real reason for "disappearing gains." what disappears wasn't really gains at all imo.

Perhaps you underestimate some people. Ive seen people put 20lbs on first cycle and look in far better condition than when they start.
Remember its a piece of cake to go from 150 to 180lbs, the difficult bit is 250 to 280!

i am on my thrid week of deca winnie cycle and only have put on 9 lbs so far. which i strongly belive is mostly muscle seeing as how i have lost 3 inches in my waist.

i'll keep uou updated

Paul,
I don't think you're lying -- just confused. If you kept that much weight, and it isn't fat, then it was muscle you grew on your own. (Which should be good news) You admitted you were well below your genetic limit. Keeping 25 pounds from a single cycle is near impossible unless you're a genetic freak. Supposedly Dorian reacted this way to gear, so okay... I guess anything's possible.

Bastard. : )

your muscles just stay harder loner..... giving you the impression you are more muscular

It really depends on a lot of things.

If a guy who is 6 feet @ 165 pounds decides to juice (which he shouldn't but it happens all the time) it is very possible he can gain 25 pounds, and keep 20 pounds.

Now a guy who is 6 feet @ 215 who decides to juice is another story. First cycle or not, in the end they may walk away with 10 pounds in the end.

Just MHO.

good post...I think the myth that you can add 30 pounds of muscle on a cycle is the reason new juicers are using such high doses, and then are discouraged that they didn't gain enough.
