if im eating like 500 carbs a day everysingle day or more i dont feel anything or any reall pump, just the average pump when i workout...but when i do something like 100 carbs for 2 or 3 days then on the 3rd or 4th day i eat 400 carbs or so....the next day after i workout i get a really awesome pump when i lift???

so part of my question is does your body upregulate its glucose uptake after a day or two of low carbs? in my opinion i think it does....but i would like to know how much?????does it upregulate 10 percent or so per day of low carbs ? i feel that the upregulation levels off around day 4 for me, im not shure....any one, mr x, or someone got some info on it.......oh by the way its great for fat burning

I would think the glucose is being used all for muscle storage purposes, giving maximum effect to glucose ingested

I would think it has something to do (if you remember) with me saying that high carb diets eventually decrease insulin sensitivity, while on low carbs you have a much more pronounced affect

would u say x, that after about 3 days of low carbs you are fully depleted? or mostly?

this is my cutting diet for spring, i plan on getting about 4 percent bodyfat and maintaining that. my father eats in a similiar fashion he is about 60 years old and maintains a 6 percent bodyfat year round, he got me on this diet a few people at the gym do it.

i cycle my carbs....protien is the constant....i take 200-210 grams of protien everyday and for 2 days ill eat 100 carbs or less..fats are about 20-30 grams a day sometimes more sometimes less...on the third day i eat 300-500 carbs keep fats and protiens the same...i do cardio aswell.....do you think on the carb up days i should lower my protien and eat ever more carbs????for possibly some muscle growth?

also out of curiosity what kind of diet are you on x? are you bulking or cutting or maintaining..whats your diet look like

been a while since I posted here.

Anyway, its from glycogen supercompensation, the aim that diets like bodyopus went for. Studies originally showed 3 days of low carbs followed by 3 days of high carbs allowed greater than normal glycogen storage in the muscles, where glycogen stores can more than double above avg.

Low carb intake upregulates enzymes that facilitate storing carbs in the muscles, mainly by an increase in GLUT4, (most sensitive to insulin and storing carbs as muscle glycogen). So by eating low carbs, enzymes are primed for when carbs are eaten to store tham in muscles above what would normally be stored on a carb based diet.

this will probably be my new way of eating. for bulking or cutting

100 g of carbs for 2 days on the third have 400 carbs or more for cutting

100 g of carbs for 2 days on the third day have about 800 or more carbs for bulking

pwb-nice info, is there a point lets say like 5 days or so that the receptors are the most primed for glucose uptake.....im shure it levels off at somepoint to where they cant get anymore primed or upregulated.

nclifter, i am cicling carbs also and i love the result so far.
Basically i am doing the diet plornive's posted some time ago (here) .
Doing cardio on empty stomach and lifting 12 hours apart with low intensity and high volume to further deplete glicogen in muscle (with 50 % caloric deficit) in low carb days. (No Hi GI carbs.)
The Heavy workouts are for the hi carbs/manteinance days (little above 15X bodyweight), Hi GI Postworkout.
