Why Dextrose?

Can someone please explain to me why dextrose is considered superior to other forms of sugar as a post workout supplement, as well as for creatine use? Thanks! I did a search under dextrose, and couldnt really find anything stating why it is the way to go.
 
Dextrose is a high glycemic carbohydrate which is most effective for creating the insulin spike you are looking for post workout.
 
So it is higher on the GI index as opposed to fructose or another sugar which makes it a better choice? But basically any sugar will cause an insulin spike wont it? My roommate, who is a science guy is not convinced of any benefit of dextrose over another kind of sugar. :confused:
 
on the GI, dextrose scores a 100. plain and simple.
 
my big question is what kind of foods contain dextrose??.....ive been using bananas and raisins for post workout shakes but i believe that is fructrose
 
Bananas arent primarily fructose.

People who cannot find Pure Dextrose at a supp shop or nearby home brewery supply can use Sweet Tarts or Smarties.

Ok im a home brewer and im thinking isn't corn sugar Dextrose? Or is it malt extract your thinking about...I should know this!
