Why bake gear in the oven?

I just came home with a good amount of gear from Cancun that i put in Visine bottles and alcohol 50ml "nips". Before i left, i emptied the booze, put boiling water in them about 5 times each, then i filled each with 91% rubbing alcohol in them. I put all my gear in these separate "nip" bottles and Visine bottles. I ordered empty sterile vials off the net along with .45um syringe filters. I was just gonna filter all the gear and transfer it into these sterile multi-dose vials. My question is: Why bake it in the oven? wont that kill the potency of the gear? wont the syringe filters get out the bacteria? Any advice/suggestions is appreciated everyone!! Thanks!!!!!!!

Wait a minute. Are you saying that your gear is mixed with alcohol? If so, the reason you have to bake it is because you want to boil the alcohol out of the solution. Actually, I would not bake it, I would put in on a burner on top of my stoke on very low heat since the boiling point of alcohol is low. After you see the alcohol steaming out, eventually it will stop, indicating that the only thing left in your pot is your gear.

I think this is what you meant.

If you are concerned I would put a couple cc's of benzel alcohol in with the gear, that will kill all of the bacteria.

Whoa bro, you should have just taken the visine into Mexico, emptied them, rinse with grain alcohol , then let it COMPLETELY DRY OUT. Then transfered the gear, neat and clean, did you let the isopropyl alcohol evaporate first? If not your gear is contaminated with isoprop. Now you need to get the isoprop out by baking, not a good idea but nessesary now. You should have asked a mod before you went. You may have fucked your gear up, I hate science projects like this one.

Benzyl alcohol is the nastiest shit you could ever shoot into your ass. It will hurt you like you won't believe. Once you do that you will find yourself in a world of hurt for at least three days.

Bake the gear, twice. While a 0.2 micron filter should get most everything out, I would not chance it when simply baking it will easily take care of the problem. Bake it at 250 for about 20 minutes, let it cool to room temp again and then repeat. This will kill any spores that would have survived the initial bake.

Steroids are pretty heat stable, it would take much higher temps to damage the molecules.
