Why Are Religious People Such Hyprocrits?

this is gonna be a flame fest once some of the assholes wake up and post here

im religious and not hypocritcal so i can only speak for my self nor do i feel the need to justify my religion or beliefs

I am a Christian, but i am definitely no where close to perfect.

The only one that I have to answer to, however is God.

I see your point---many people see this as you do, but you must understand that when someone chooses to follow Christ, they are admitting imperfection---not perfection.

Many call them hypocrites b/c they have standards and sometimes they are vocal about them---many times not. Many are misunderstood.

There are many good Christian folks out there who are living for God and walk with Him daily. This is why we are here. God does not expect perfection. He expects progression and He looks at the Heart of the individual.

I hope this helps:)

I try really hard...I really do. I do know people who claim to be Christians...but I do wonder about. Friends who go to Church and pray yet drink all the time, swear, say G D a lot, sleep around, lie, cheat, steal...etc...yet they are Christians. I work with a guy who is always trying to get me to go to Church with him...usually right after he makes some strong racial remarks. He doesn't know that those remarks offend me...but they do. Those remarks also make me wonder about his faith.

I try...but will fall short. I can not explain it at all...I really wish that I could.

Bless

Not all are hypocrites. No one is perfect. I am nowhere near perfect. I'm a Christian, but I know that sometimes I don't do what I should. No one does the right thing all the time. I try to lead a good life for the most part. I waver sometimes though. I'll admit this. And yes, there are those who are Christians in name only. That's sad but true. So yes, there are some who are hypocritical. But don't judge all by the acts of some. And don't expect perfection. You won't find it.

There are a lot of religious people i get along with very fine.
No one of them ever bugged me with wanting to save me from eternal damnation or something like that.

I hung out with a super-religious guy from my office on Friday night and had a blast. He doens't drink/smoke, but he's never judgemental about other people and thier vices. A really cool dude.

On the other hand, a supposed born-again-christain (and married!) girl from work spent the night trying to convince me to take her home. And this is after she told me all about how the world is ending due to moral depravity.

Personally, I follow my own spiritual path. I don't need religion to define morality for me.

It's a simple case of sampling error!

Those who are truly good Christians (who really try to follow the footsteps of Christ) are not going out and blathering about what good Christians they are. It's the one who are unsure about their own beliefs that are out there calling everyone else sinners. Hence, the hypocrites most of see out there are not the truly religious. Something about when you pray doing it in the closet and talk only to God -- not to everyone but God.

According to the bible all non-christians are actually sinners.
AFAIK the bible also advices to spread the word of god.
