Why 8 Weeks?

because usally most people ares using slow acting gear that doesn't fully kick in until weeks 4 or 5 so you want to ahve a longer cycle. I think 10 should be min. for a longer acting does cycle.

Just thinking aloud here . . . WHY does everyone do 8 week cycles? Does research suggest 8 weeks is the optimal length? Or is this one of those “facts” that we all accept without questioning?

What if 12 weeks were the norm? Or 16? Would recovery be all that different? I’d love to hear your thoughts . . .

news to me - 8 weeks doesnt seem to be to optimal anymore. 8 weeks is more like minimal

on this site i have always thought the general consensus was that 8 weeks was the minumum.
i think people say 8 weeks becuase
1. gear is expensive and they want to do the minimum to get good results
2. they dont want it to take a long time to recover post cycle
3. they think more than 8 weeks is too hardcore
4. some people say that you stop making gains after the first few weeks. so prolonging the cycle seems silly when no addition gains will be made

I think the biggest reason some people (such as myself at times) go only eight weeks is because your testosterone recovers faster the shorter the cycle duration is ran. For example, your natural test will recover much faster on a six week cycle than a twelve week cycle. However, unless alot of gear is stacked heavy for a long period of time, say more than five or six weeks, most people can recover with average to minumal difficulty. It's when cycles start running 12-16 weeks or so that recovery becomes a problem for most. Anyhoo, the theory that the shorter the cylce, the easier the recovery, is still a substancial one and has proved it's self according to my experience. (For whatever my exp. is worth)

These are good anecdotal responses, but I’d like to see something more technical. Consider what Toughtiti said: “Your testosterone recovers faster the shorter the cycle duration is ran.”

But has this correlation ever been tested? Is it exponential? Linear? Does it take you twice as long to recover from 16 weeks than 8? If not, we could graph the thing and figure out the optimal cycle length (on average).
