Motorbikes are usually at MORE risk cuz most of them buy them for the *speed*. And if you factor in living on the east coast, weather, fog, rain, etc. the chances increase even more.
But if you buy a nice Hog. Drive it in summer (or year round if you live in sunny areas), and drive it like a good cruising machine, you're chances are even less.
Most accidents with cycles happen cuz of those fucker big rigs. They never fully look at their blind spot and love to just overrun a cycle trying to pass them.
Fortunately most cyclists have learned how to quickly switch to the breakdown lane, or learn to speed up *fast*. Things they should always teach every cyclist.
Higher off the ground and head --- more chance people will see you, especially trucks.
