I said the UN based on this logic:
- The US can not engage them. We are spread too thin now.
- Israel could do it in a heart beat, but won't because they need peace with the Arab world.
- NATO? That would be a land war and Iran just might whip them. Iran has a big, well trained army thanks to us.
This leaves the UN coupled with EU, Russian and American economic pressure on Iran's government. The younger people are very internet savy and long for contact with the Western world. They are not Arabs and will rebel against their own government if squeezed.
Squeeze and wait.

I think many have become spoiled after the "ease" of "victory" in the IRAQ war. We do know Iran will be different, but do we know how much different? Are we prepared?

Perhaps not primarily because they are an Islamic nation but that's definitely one reason. Look at Pakistan and India. India tested a bomb and the US did nothing until Pakistan followed suit several weeks later. Then all of a sudden they slapped sanctions on both countries.

Could the difference here be that India and Pakistan have been at odds and escalating actions towards each other? Throw in nukes and all of a sudden their choice of weapons has a far bigger and reaching impact that is no longer contained to just their borders.
And as for the Iranian president... let us see, he has called for wiping Isreal off the map and said the holocaust was a 'myth'. Mmmmkay. And then his own ministers offer up some half assed 'it was taken out of context' statement. Yeah.
I would normally understand/support the muslim point of view, but Iran's president is a dipshit. They would garner far greater support for condemning Isreal's use of torture and camps which is quite hypocritical seeing as how they point back to the holocaust and the associated treatments.

I think the US should work behind the scenes to encourage the Israelis to take it out with air strikes like they did before. Israel has the most to lose. We'll just have their back when the shit hits the fan.
