Who Uses Short Rest In Between Sets???

Guys, do any of you use shorter rest between sets? When I say short, I'm talking about 30-60 seconds in between sets? Maybe, 90 seconds when you train Legs. If so, do you recommend it? Do you find it beneficial???

yes i find it helps a lot...for example i plateaued...i then decided to use shorter rests in between
and it worked a lot

It works great. I try to never take a full minute between sets. I do alot of striping sets, supersets and trisets. During my regular sets, I always take very short breaks, roughly 30 seconds, but always reduce the weight slightly between sets.

i use WSB and a lot of their workout require 30-45 second rest between sets. i've done so many of my sets under 30 seconds, taking more than a minute is too much rest for me now. this helps out when i do shirt work in regards to energy. all of my speed work is done with 30 second rest between sets. tb

i dont time my rest between sets. i dont take alot of time between sets. usually its back to back with a training partner on accesories so there is little rest there. however after i get done with my DE squats the big guy likes to sit on the bench for a few minutes;) especially when its hot, and im on shirt #2.

BBF, I going to start training like this in a few weeks. I'm going to limit my rests between sets to 30-60 seconds. My main goal is to lose bodyfat and maintain muscle mass. I'm checking my ego at the door everytime I train. At this point in my life, I'm not really concerned with how much I bench or squat. I'm after results! What rep ranges do you like to use?

I train like that sometimes short rest between sets but not on deadlift and bench days hehe Like to psyche up and recover for my 1RM attempts or if Im trying to set a PR in reps like to be recovered for that also. Seems a good way to train for size though. Depends what your looking to achieve. Hope that helps

Shorter rest periods are something everyone should think about working into their routine at sometime or another. Like mentioned above, they really help break plateaus cause you're pushing yourself just a little hard than you would if you gave a muscle 2 minutes to rest.

IMO 45 seconds is plenty to let the muscle rest enough to complete the next set and give the benefit of "short rest periods".

I don't rest much at all on my auxillary moves...

I do 60 seconds on all exercises exept on leg day. On leg day I do 90 seconds. Been doin that all year and I'm happy with the results. I think it's important to be consistent.

Wow, I use to do 30-60 seconds, but switched to 2minutes , sometimes 3 because I wanted to increase weight. It seemed to hae worked fine.

I`m going for hypertrophy, should I decrease the rest time again? Is there a rule of thumb for bodybuilders?

Gonelifting, I think going back to 30-60 second rest periods would be great! As a matter of fact, when I first started lifting all I did was Triple Drop Sets for every exercise. I seen an article by Dorian Yates way back in the early 90's and he said that's what he used. Plus, I seen Pumping Iron and Arnold was using the same technique. I was hooked! I put on ALOT of lean, dense, vascular size this way and my diet was crap!. LOL!(Remember Hot Stuff??) Guys, thought I was 20lbs bigger than what actually I was.

i rest about 25-35 seconds inbetween speed day sets. i rest from 2-5 minutes between max effort movements. but i only rest about 25-40 seconds between repepititon movements.
