Who uses dextrose PWO, and who only uses protein.

I know that after your workout that your body is primed to take in a large ammount of glucose to be stored as muscle glycogen. But, spiking your insulin post workout will totally suppress any of the GH that would normally be released. Would it be possible to take just protien, after your workout, and just Use your PWO meal to refill your muscle stores. Couldnt you just take in extra carbs in your PWO meal, and in turn, gain more Muscle and less fat.

I know that there are some guys on here that do not use dextrose PWO, and I just wanted to hear some opinions on this.

I use it both pre AND post workout with protien. I dont think that it has that bad of an effect on GH levels, as they are rising DURING a heavy workout. You will continue to pump out GH while in a deep sleep as well, so insulin is not going overdrive then. The biggest thing that I have learned that works for me is to consume a large part of my daily carbs "around" my workouts ... both before and after. I find that the really suffer if I do not.

Pre Workout I take 25 grams of whey protein, 5 grams of creatine, and 5 grams of glutamine.
Post Workout I take 50 grams of Whey Protein, 48 grams of dextrose, and 48 grams of maltodextrin.

I don't think dextrose or malto is necessary at all, especially if you're an endomorph. You'll get just the gains and stay just as lean (maybe leaner), by sticking with lower GI carbs even post-workout. Plus, I can't see how ingesting mass quantities of sugar is healthy in the long run, even if it does "cause far superior gains". I use about 1 cup of oats pre and post-workout with some whey.

CUTTING - Drink around 40g of Whey Isolate only. (You may take carbs after an hour or two depanding on your diet type and goal). You don't want to spike insulin as like you said.. that would decrease GH and increase insulin (which is anti lipolytic)... You may be compromising your muscle recovery but at the same time loosing an hour or two of good potential for fatloss.

BULKING - Certainly take high GI carbs with the Whey. The reasons are obvious. See Boulder257 suggestion for his postworkout drink.. sounds very solid and good to me, though i personally would cut to 30g dextrose and 30g malto only.
