WHO TAKES MY SOCKS? whose behind this?

I bought a pack of socks, i think 12 pair came in this bag. 2 weeks later, i now have 7 pairs of socks. i have no idea were they go, no idea who takes them. it seams as if they just disappear of the face of the earth. this has been happening forever. i ask everyone in my family, i even dig through their dresser drawers, search friends houses. and always come up empty handed. i used to just let it happen, not wanting to open a door that may not be able to shut after finding out this deep dark secret, but now i think it's time we all come out and face this evil beast that prays upon our poor defenseless socks.....WHO TAKES THEM? AND WHY? ALIENS?? WTF???

I can live with losing one or two of my white gym socks, they are all the same anyway, but when I was cleaning out my closets and dressers last week I realized how may single dress socks I had. I ended up throwing six socks away that I couldn't find matches for.
