Who stole my testosterone?

I am hoping some of you can offer me some advice or point me in the right direction.

I found this site while trying to research my blood test results. My doctor said I am anemic with sluggish thyroid and low testosterone (18 total) and high estrogen.

I am a 42 year old female and I stopped exercising years ago and don't have the energy to get back in. Hopefully treatment will give me the boost I need as I am sure working out will alleviate many of my symptoms naturally.

Doctor started me on testosterone injections- the first was 150 and 2 weeks later 100. She also gave me nature throid, DIM-pro, DHEA, b12 injection (useless) and melatonin. She said I am the perfect candidate for HGH replacement but will not put me on it because it will make me gain more weight if I don't work out hard core.

My concern was she did not address my very low IGF binding protein 1, LH or FSH.

I want to start back on cardio and light weight training, tone, raise my HDL, lose 25 lbs of bf.

I would start with your gut in order followed by supplementing for your thyroid. Check out the sticky at the top of the forum Young and low T, I posted quite a bit of info in there.

You may very well need some hormones but if your on them and still not getting the benefits you expected then there is more of an underlying problem(which there almost always is).

If those test numbers are in mg thats way too much for a female. DIM is a good natural anti estrogen, id add in calcium d-glucarate as well.

Intestinal pathogens are a heck of a lot more common than the medical community will admit and are often at least part of the problem when people have a laundry list of symptoms that modern medicine cant seem to resolve.

Thank you for the info. I read the thread and see I have a lot more research to do. My brain is already on overload from all of the reading I have already done- none of it really getting to the root cause. While reading your recommended supplement post I went a took a bite of dried seaweed to hopefully get a little iodine. Gag.

I was so despondent after being blown off by my obgyn for years and then several docs who just want to do very basic blood work and stick you on antidepressants. I refused to go that route because I believe anxiety and depression are mostly problematic symptoms, not the cause of most peoples' issues. The last doctor I saw because I had every symptom of diabetes except the weight loss (go figure) did basic blood panel, said everything was normal and had no other recommendations for me. "Really?!? So this was just an expensive meet and greet?" she just gave me a blank stare.

I know there is a huge difference between the ridiculously broad range of normal blood levels and optimal blood levels and the lack of competence/ concern/knowledge of many mainstream "doctors" led me to an anti-aging clinic. She did more blood work but still only addressed some of my issues. I felt a euphoric boost after my first test injection and starting on the supplements. I am not sure if they actually started working quickly or if it was placebo affect because someone was finally listening and doing something.

Again I researched the new blood levels which led to so many more questions. Low igf bp1, low lh, low fsh, low hdl.
My mental dialogue went something like this: "OMG do I have a pituitary tumor? Insulin resistance? Am I just becoming a hypochondriac? No, you have probably just become a lazy fat ass who indulges in too much cake and pasta. Get off your ass and exercise. But I am too tired. Wah, wah, wah"

So more research brought me to peptides to naturally boost GH since my body is not producing nearly enough. Loads more questions. Is it right for me, which one(s), doses and on and on. I believe I am overwhelmed with too much of the wrong info so I posted here for help.

I know I need to correct my diet and begin exercising before anything resolves. Now the question is who do I see next to get to the root of my issues and to get the proper lab tests and diet recommendations. A dietician, naturopath, specialist? All of the above?

most HRT/antiaging docs are a bit better acquainted with nutrition than regular docs but still (generally speaking) are far from experts.

I would say a naturopath would be the way to go but your mileage may vary. Personally I have found that its often easier, cheaper and faster to do my own research and treat myself.

Your not going to get anywhere near the iodine needed from a little kelp, you also need to supplement (or go out of your way) to consume extra selenium if you supplement iodine or you will cause problems.

Common symptoms from intestinal pathogens:

Abdominal pain
Hemoptysis
Dysuria
Central nervous system impairment
Chest pain
Chills
Chronic fatigue
Colitis
Coughing
Diarrhea
Digestive disturbance
Dizziness
Fever
Enlargement of various organs
Headaches
Vaginitis
Jaundice
Joint Pain
Weight loss due to malnutrition
Weakness
Immunodeficiency
Nausea/vomiting
Swelling of facial features
Sweating
Insomnia
Skin ulcers
Rectal prolapse
Mental problems
Lung congestion
Memory loss
Night sweats
Muscle spasms
Hair loss or thinning

Some symptoms of hypothyroidism:

Fatigue
Increased sensitivity to cold
Constipation
Dry skin
Unexplained weight gain
Puffy face
Hoarseness
Muscle weakness
Elevated blood cholesterol level
Muscle aches, tenderness and stiffness
Pain, stiffness or swelling in your joints
Heavier than normal or irregular menstrual periods
Thinning hair
Slowed heart rate
Depression
Impaired memory

The above are just a sampling of the problems and based on what you are saying I would still start with intestinal pathogens. You can spend $300 for a test but it only covers about 30 pathogens when there are literally over 1000. Or you could simply treat yourself for them with something like humaworm for $40.

The ingredients in humaworm are pretty potent and by themselves should be fairly well tolerate. That being said how you feel after starting is a good indication of how large your pathogen issue is. As the humaworm kills off pathogens, they release toxins which can overwhelm your system and make you feel like crap.

Once completed with the 30 days of humawork, follow the directions in this pdf:

There are sources for labs that do iodine loading tests so after you spend 3-6 months loaidng you can do the test and see where your at.
