Who should I talk to?

Who do you think I should talk to if I have questions about depression? My choices are my family doctor, the doctor at the school health center, or counseling services at my college. Anyone had experiences with depression? If so, PM me or post here. Thanks

i went to a school counselor when my mom died.
i dont see why it would be bad ???
docs are the only one to prescribe meds , though

My advice is to deal with it yourself. Talking to some wackjob doctor or counselor isnt gonna solve anything. Most problems like depression simply take a change from within. No one can help you but you.

yeah that is different though, if you go to a school counclor and he thinks your a nut bag he might get you suspended from school untill "he" thinks your better or something to come back. I'm just saying this though, no idea if it is true. just a thought

this is good advice. however if you have already tried that and you are desperate for help then see your family doc if you want meds and your school counselor if you want to talk about it.

Meds dont solve the problem. They hide it.

Are you helpless? I'm not trying to be a dick, but there really is no emotional problem that cant be overcome by yourself. I'd be happy to talk to you on aim or something tommorow if you want.

I'd go see a school(college?) counselor, that's what they are there for and your paying for them. At least I would think thats a good starting place...otherwise if you have a job with health benefits, you may qualify for counseling through that as well.

you have to forgive, if applicable, and accept what happened. if you don't know how to go about doing this you will need help from others

Start out talking to a counselor at your college. They can further direct you to the correct professional who can help you further with your concerns and problem.

You have so much good in you. Noone is perfect and I am far from it, it's easy to see bad in others, but the good is what gives me hope.

You just want to be the master of the obvious or what ?

If I grew a penis and some balls I could be a king of something. Maybe even the king of the obvious.

Until then I can't say that I am a king of anything.

Thanks for showing interest, however.

i would suggest going on meds awhile, and using them to get your head clear. but david hasslehoff is right, you have to work through the things yourself.

having been there myself, i find that lieing to yourself is what is underneath most of this shit.

I would start with your school counselor and take it from there. You probably dont need meds unless your daily functioning is affected by your level of depression (i.e. cant or dont want to get out of bed, isloating yourself from others, disrupted sleep, change in eating patterns). All these things show a sign of something more serious that may require meds. Most people do go through mild depression at stressful times in their lives. This is normal and you just need someone to talk it our with. A qualified professional you feel comfortable with. Not some on AIM or Elite Fitness. And meds will only be prescribed by a Medical Doctor if and when you are found to meet the criteria for that. So dont worry about meds. And no, youre not alone. We all go through it.

Good luck to you. :)
