Who here sees a chiropractor?

mountain muscle

Just got back from the first time at one. Messed up my rib yesterday at work and didn't want to go to some traditional doc who would just tell me to stop working out for awhile and hand me some pain pills. The chiro was great and I am already feeling a lot better. I can actually take deep breaths again! He did a little e-stim first which was awesome, totally relaxed the area. Anyway I have heard the more often you go to see one the more you have to go to get adjusted. Supposedly it loosens up connective tissues and muscles which makes it easier to get out of alignment. Any truth to that? Anyone have a home e-stim unit they use? That thing was awesome and they are fairly cheap so I am thinking about getting one since Most of the time I am all knotted up anyway. Let me know your personal experiences.

I don`t know... but I loved the results I got from a chiro. My back was really messed up and he fixed/alighned and relived a lot of pain.

I used to see one, probably 10 times total, and my back was better, until I got back in my car seat and messed it up again. Once, I went to the chiro before work when I worked at GNC, and at work I bent to pick something off the floor and couldn't get back up without steadying myself with my arm on the counter. After the chiro works on you, your muscles are very loose and not stable enough to do any kind of significant movement. You basically have to sit in one position for about 24 hours just to restabilize whatever muscles you had worked on. This is why people keep having to go back them, I think.
It's up to you if you want to go. you feel better at first, but then it's just a matter of how little you can force yourself to move around to let yourself heal.

it depends.

if you can goto the chiro and then take some time to relax and heal then you won't have to keep going back.

for me, my job is laborous enough where I can't really heal fully (plus lifting) so I usually have to go about once every 3 weeks or so.

I don't care, it's worth it for the pain to go away.

People who say going to the chiro makes you have to keep going are just dumb. Yeah I 'm sure it would be better to just live with the pain 24/7 instead of actually getting relief, even if it is only for a few weeks.

If you just blow off an a spinal or neck injury have fun in 20 years when you have to get some vertebra fused together

I've been going to one at least every two weeks for the last year...he's made me custom orthotics for my feet, and overall done wonders for my back and neck pain. When you work at a computer all day, things tend to get kinda jacked up. Plus, I have a slight spinal curvature, and am just in general a freak of nature, so I think it's worth it. Right now he's fixing some kinda pinched nerve thing...treatment yesterday was so harsh it made me nauseous...

It's ok to admit you went out and bought yourself a new pair of pumps orb. No one will laugh at you, that's what BBF is here for.
