I have a 65" hi def tv. I don't have any high definition programming yet, but dvd's look awesome.

Do you have cable or Sat? If sat, Do you have the HD receiver?

That`s an awesome TV btw.

I have a 50 inch analog now.

^ditto

I have a Samsung 63" PPM63H3 plasma hdtv.

gotta say, it's sick, but my digital cable only has 1 hd channel =/. DvD's on the progressive scan player w/ dvi input look pretty but I want more hd stations.

Plasma IS king.

Why don`t you use an antenna? depending on where you live you`ll gwet local HD channels at least. (over the air)

No, I do not have HD receiver yet because programming is very limited. I have DirecTV, but not enough hi def programming to warrant me paying out the $$ for a receiver yet.

It is a Mitsubishi and the picture with a progressive scan dvd player is beautiful. Nothing beats Hi Def programming, but until there's more available I'll stick with standard.

It makes standard definition tv look much better. I have a couple analog big screens, and they look like sh@t in comparison. You can see all the stupid scan lines. My tv picture is like a computer monitor. The big screens are cheap as hell now - I would buy one.

bump, my tv was $$ and I wanna find out more about getting hd broadcast on all my chans

You can get hi def signals using a roof antenna - just like the old days. It just depends if your local channels are broadcasting in hi def or not.

I have HDTV and its is awesome. but i only get CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, Sho and HBO. My cable provider doesnt have ESPN yet (those bastards)>

Anyway, i think its worth it. ANd my cable company provides it for free. You just need to ask them for a new box. Actually, i believe it is always free. Its especially awesome for movies and sporting events.

You can also get an antenna that goes inside your attic. They also have ones that go right in the room On top of the TV if you want.(for HD) it`s worth it.

ZKaudio Damn bro 15k-20k for that TV. lol When they sold it to you they should have advised you on the different methods of getting HD after they did your dishes.

HumanShell, I`m gonna be sitting really close to the tv sometimes, So I need it to be pretty clear. (1 to 6feet away) I also want to be able to read stock ticker scrolling across on the bottom of the screen.

I was thinking of this one, http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/

It would fit perfectly on my wall adjacent to the chairs on my (barstool height) counter. I may start another thread... on how do I know if I can use it as a computer moniter?

I'm sticking with analog right now.

I have a High Def Monitor television and tried Directtv recently. I couldn't get high def. channels without paying a lot for only a couple of channels.

The normal digital broadcasts looked awful. The picture was "ghosting" and wasn't crisp at all. The tv guy said that it would look like that until it was received in HD.

It's funny though, because the digital signal looks really good on my analog tv's, but not the HD bigscreen.

Me too!

-dvd on hdtv monitor = excellent picture
-directtv(digital) on analog tv = good picture
-directtv(digital) on hdtv monitor = poor, not crisp
-analog cable on hdtv = grainy, but still decent.

ditto. I think directv uses as little bandwidth as they can for their standard definition channels, so they look crappy on digital monitor.

Whew, I'm glad I'm not the only one. There for a while I thought I was hooking the stuff up wrongly, or that something was broken.
:)

friend of mines family is all into that stuff. its pretty cool i guess, its $ but a tv lasts a long time (while computers get obsolete very fast) maybe worth the investment if you enjoy sports alot of something (i watch simpsons and news so its not too important for me)
