Who else has great parents?

I must say that I really have a good mother and father. My parents have been together for almost 40 years. They did a pretty good job raising my sister and I. I had some rough times with my dad in my teens and early 20's. We didn't always get along, but whenever I had a crisis he was still there for me. Now that I'm 33 I realize that a lot of my problems with him back then were the result of him being worried about me. Even now as a grown adult, my parents still put my sister and I first. I sometimes feel like I owe mom and dad a debt that is impossible to re-pay. I don't know why I'm posting this, I just started thinking about them and felt like writing something about the two most important people in my life.

Overall I'd give them a C, but being a parent is hard as I'm finding out now. When they suffer, it bothers me much.

Useless without pics

I would need to be in therapy if there were pix. :worried:

Um... well ok .. this has been several years ago, but the 'rents went to Cancun for their big yearly vacation - they were going thru a Mexico phase. So I'm home for xmas and my mom comes out w/ a stack of photos like 1/2 a foot thick (mom is one of those people who gets photos developed maybe 2x/year - I guess she likes to sit on the film & let it ferment or something). So here's a picture of mom climbing the steps to one of the Mayan ruins. There's mom & dad at happy hour. There's dad holding up a Dos Equis beer. There's dad full frontal nudity butt ass nekkid in the tub.

:worried:

I was like "MAAAAAAAA!" She comes out of the kitchen and looks at the photo. She very matter-of-factly takes the picture and stuffs it back in the middle of the "already saw these" photos and said "That's not supposed to be in there." and went back into the kitchen.

It was surreal.

My dad is hung.

:worried:

So based on that at around the 30th anniversary and the fact that they both still walk 5 miles / day, do pilates & step aerobics 3x/week - I assume they still get jiggy.

I just don't need to know about it.

And no I don't have a copy of that pic to post up.

Sounds like your dad is waxing that ass, good for them. Mine are the same, let's just say mom is a real moaner and leave it at that.

my parents are great...still married, retired and vacationing year round

My parents divorced 16 years ago. I love them both dearly. I work with my father and we're good, but I feel like our professional relationship has in some form replaced the father/son relationship. He puts alot of things before me and my siblings.

My mom is my foundation. I can honestly say that I am closer to her than anyone in the world. I almost lost her to Meningitis (sp?) two years ago and it really shook me. Since then, I call her EVERY day just to make sure she's OK and let her know I'm there if she needs anything.

I was also blessed with great parents. Their nest became empty about twenty years ago when my baby sister graduated from high school.

Unfortunately I lost my Mom last Oct at age 73 but Pops is still kickin'
