Yeah what the hell? It was just starting to get fun!!! I had a whole Supreme Court decision ready to go....

Wish I could help you out fro, think we were headed toward a really cool arguement. But I just got done busting on a guy who was whining about free speech on this board. The fact is, there is free speech here, only to the extent that GS and the mods approve of it. Not a thing you can do. It's their board.

So on we go....

2Thick I always respected you in the past, but I think your 'burn the flag' shite was treated with the contempt it deserved.

Why go out of your way to imflame alot of people like this at such a sensitive time in the free world, not least America.

I wonder how Big Buck is getting on with his preparations to fight for your flag, and the flags of the free world.

I agree that's it's "their" board, but this was turning out to be a heated CIVIL discussion on current affairs with some funny un-offensive cheap shots being taken.

That kind of shit. Could have really been a great thread. And nobody was personally insulting anyone (no questions about how anyone's twat smells).

I agree. Didn't seem like too many feathers were being ruffled. The Molson comment was the best, as was 2thick's reaction.

I have an idea old 2thick will come up with something else. Just hope he doesn't take my "shooting puppies" idea seriously.

As Bill Maher stated last night, the flag is a symbol and not what it symbolizes. It is only as symbolic as the individual will allow.

When symbolism is confused with what it is meant to symbolize, the true meaning of the flag is lost. Only by destroying the flag, can it be fully appreciated.

BTW- Big Buck is not fighting for a piece or cloth. He is fighting for his country and for freedom (which can never be fully reflected in a colorful piece of cloth).
 
Well, I want to see how this thread turns out but I have to go to the gym now. I'm sure it will be deleted by tomorrow.

I'm disappointed thats all.

I always had the impression there were no proud people in the world of their flag than the American people. 2Thick has gone someway towards shattering that impression.

I know if I posted something like this I'd expect Mandinka, another Irish man, to be in my face at our next meeting with a baseball bat !.

Bouncer, although 2thick's timing and delivery are horrid, as usual, you're wrong to think that those of us who would allow the desecration of our flag are any less proud of it than those who would see it outlawed. IMO, it simply means that we hold what the flag represents much more sacred than the symbol itself. And one of those values is our precious freedom of speech.

In a Supreme Court ruling, in opposition to the Flag Protection Act of 1989, Justice Kennedy writes, "it is poignant but fundamental that the flag protects those who hold it in contempt."

This doesn't mean we view the desecration of our flag with any less disgust than anyone, we simply value the freedom of expression more.
 
As you well know Bounce ,
we don't have baseball in this country , we have stick fighting (hurling). Any man who knows his Irish history will remember that at Parnell's coffin side , two thousand men carried black hurls.
But on the other side , I agree with O'Connell - I mean the original Irish flag was nothing but green - it was changed to appease those ignorant orange shites and they STILL weren't happy.
And I'd never hit you Bounce , I'm clever enough to pick on those smaller than me!
