super_rice said:not a new exercise, but if anything, it would be your "upper" traps pulling the weight up (as far as i know, there aren't sections of the trapezius muscles)
if you mean pulling your shoulder blades together, i'd imagine the rhomboids would be hit as well.
Lumberg said:For example, if you coudl find a bench that was high enough, you could lay on your stomach and hold DBs in your hand and push your shoulders back...like a horizontal shrug. That would be a cool exercise.
Bulldog_10 said:You work the rhomboid and mid- and lower-traps during most back movements...any time you squeeze your shoulder blades together. Whether or not your arm bends at the elbow has nothing to do with it.
Becoming said:I would agree and say that is true for some of us, but not everyone understands how to get the full motion out of the scapulas.... I see lots of people basically doing curl variations in various back movements...
I think sometimes in learning to pull the shoulder blades stuff like this can be very useful, or if you want to take bi's out of the equation...
Similar can be done with "straight armed pullups" - concentrating on the scapular part (bottom portion) of the movement only...
Becoming said:Someone beat you to it... They are called Kelso Shrugs bro.... great way to fill in upper back...

wordBulldog_10 said:too many people don't know how to work their backs...Alot of people try to use too much weight, as opposed to concentrating on working the muscles...very counter-productive.
Of course I have heard that the spontaneous back spasms that occur while homosexual males get railed from behind work pretty well too.... so you always have that to look forward to...Lumberg said:Fuck you in the face, sir.

Bulldog_10 said:What does a kelso shrug consist of?
Becoming said:the short of it- a kelso shrug is basically a shrug in any plane other than the vertical normal type... endless variations obviously...
