Which Bench should I get???

I'm not big on these benches. I would use the money for a membership for a while or save up and get a power rack with a bench.

I am 15 5 foot 8 and 150pounds. I not in bad shape but iam not in as good shape as I wish I was. I am wanting a bench because I already have a 100 pound weight set.And I want to put the bench in my bedroom I dont use. I usualy stay on a boat and I like my room better on the boat than the house. I think that if I had something to use right there I would be more likely to use it.

Whatever you do don't buy anything that will break easily. I bought a weider like half power rack(It was a triangle). I was pulling 165 and the metal peice connecting the cable snapped in half and all the weights dropped about 3 feet bending the bar holding the weight. All the weights fell off and broke the hard wood flooring in my house. Don't let that happen to you especially if your on a boat. I hope this is also a really big boat because i don't see how you can bench with swaying.

Like BiggT said in the other thread, don't buy the ebay bench. There's a lot of stuff you should be doing in addition to bench pressing, so unless you have the money/space for a proper home gym, just join one instead. Also, you might want to see about access to your school's weight room.

Yeah I would do what those guys say, join a gym, watch the folks, learn some of the wrong stuff and the right stuff.

Figure out if your dedicated rather than purchasing a big honkin piece of equipment that just takes up room and collects dust.

A lot of this stuff won't last if you really use it anyways, sorta like gym memberships, they want to sign up and never show up again, fuggin corporate gyms...

BTW, try to join a privately owned gym, chances are the folks are better plus you'll be helping out someone who really needs it...

Can you say getting off on a friggin tangent or what, I digress....

I will NEVER, EVER buy cheap equipment, made that mistake ONCE.

You need weight equipment, THIS is the place to shop:

http://www.newyorkbarbells.com/

LOTS of the stuff is free shipping.

Membership is the best bet, you can have a YEAR's membership at your local Y for about $150, total.

Down the road, or if you still want your own bench, TRUST ME ON THIS, buy a good quality basic bench that has the ability to be added onto! I wish my bench could have things like trays added and had the ability to decline. It DOES have the silly quad extension thing, but it's engineered wrong so it's worthless (I can't lift more than 50 pounds with it which I know is wrong, because I have a home gym and can lift a whole HELL of a lot more than that).

Screw New York BB. I bought a preacher curl bench there and ever set the wood under the padding makes cracking noises like its about to give in.. Cheap stuff.

Here, goto Fitness Factory Outlet. Buy the power rack and bench. The power rack has support bars so you can workout alone and not worry about crushing yourself. Holds 800lbs, bench holds 1000lbs. You need to step up and use some real equipment that Walmart stuff wont do jack.

Heres picture of my power rack and bench from them. Top notch quality I was impressed. They are the only place i shop for equipment now.

Huh, now I've been really happy with the stuff I got from them and their service, and when I went to their outlet store I liked what I saw, but I'm a girl, working in quite a bit lower poundage :qt:

That's a damn good price on that rack at the front of the catalog ... I was thinking of asking for one for Mother's day  ... last year I got a trap bar ;)

Im also looking to spend around 1500 on a rack and some weights for now probly in all maybe around 4000, but that will take a year or so. I was wondering what a good rack would run me thats pretty good. I was looking at elitefts stuff, but god its pricey!! oh yeah i also need a good bench that will not hurt your ass. Cuz benches that incline always hender my bench press.
