What are your stats? Age, Height, Weight, Bodyfat%, your goals, what weight do you want to be at? What is your workout like? What does your diet look like? Protein shakes are best taken within 15 minutes of completing your workout....when you are exercising, your body slips into a catabolic state, meaning its breaking down muscle....A double scoop protein shake, and some glutamine will help you get out of this state of catabolism and back into an anabolic state. But thats only one part of the day....what are you eating the rest of the day? Your diet is the biggest factor when it comes to gaining lean muscle. Welcome to EF bro.

thx for the welcome man..

am 17/5,9" about 127LB my goal is to shap my body and gain muscles ( look good pretty much :) ) so u r saying that i shouldn't take it before working out... take after (and not wait) which is wut i did today took half before and a full scoop after.. is there any problem if i eat after i drink it after my work out ?

Well first i think you should read through all the training, diet, and supplement forums here....its sunday spend the day reading up and learning....Then post any questions you might have. For me i eat six small-medium sized meals a day. One of those meals about 1hour and 45 min before i lift, loaded with carbs and some protein...Try not to rely on supplements to get big.....Stick with whole foods....Make sure you are drinking a shit load of skim milk, eggs, lean red meat, chicken, tuna, oats, cottage cheese, broccoli, etc.....Many people worry about when and how much protein to have in their shakes.....start worrying about eating 6 meals a day, figure out how many calories you need to gain the lean mass, and come up with a good training routine, and at 17, you will slap on meat like its cool. Now go read bro...find out everything you can, and come back every day and read the new posts.....If you are having trouble with a routine go post on the training board.....anotherbutters is lurking around there somewhere, he is a good bro, and he will help you tweak a routine, but do your research first and be open to new ideas.

its only protein, doesnt really matter about stats u need protein on a regular day basis,
but if i was you, i would take a 20g shake and a banana or something 45 mins before ur workout, and i would have 40g right.

me, personally, I ushually have a small meal about 1hr15min before i hit it..then i have a smaller (260 cal) Pro Complex Protein shake 45 mins before a workout (its two scoops with 10 oz of skim milk)... then after the workout a more calorie drink is drank... being a true-mass 400 cal. protein shake (3 scoops and 16 oz of skim milk)...Along with the creatine-krealkalyn-and every other supp..throughout the day

FOOD--6-10 meals a day <----MOST IMPORTANT and like he said whole foods :Chef:
