whey protein before working out?

anticatobolic effect simply means preventing muscle break down due to cortisol. the muscle breakdown we are talking about is induced by stess caused by lifting weights. About the glutamate, I think ill start doing that.

That's another aspect of the game...

There's is a muscle cost for doing a workout... Basically any physical activity you do requires glycogen or ATP or both If your workout consumes all available fuel then you are working out at the expense of your hard earned muscle.

This is the reason I tell people start working out 3 times a week and check your gains , because overtraining is a bad problem. It will cause you to plateau and it will take longer periods of time to recover.

Nutrition is 60% of the battle so the idea is to not go in the red in terms of fuel to finish a workout. Overtraining will catabolize your hard earned gains in muscle.

I usually make a mix of whey protein and creatine while working out and than after workout down another protein drink

for those who take in fats pre workout....why?

Its makes your vains decrease in size and will hinder pumps and bloodflow..

I think its to decrease the speed of absorption. Why would it hinder blood flow? Fats enter the body through lympatics not veins. Too much absorption of nutrients makes your insulin sky rocket and before a work out I dont think thats a good thing cause then youll feel sluggish.

I made myself a sugary whey prew/o shake and I was full of energy for about 20 minutes then I crashed. I could hardly lift myself up off the bench. Errr what a wasted workout. Next time I wont use so much sugar.

Yeah, you can still overwelm the digestive system. The idea is to utilize just enough, and sip, repeat sip it, not drink it down.

I just read an article saying that whey protein before working out helps increase fat oxidationn and helps to maintain muscle mass vs a pre workout diet of nothing, milk protein, or glucose, a study preformed on rats. Well, I have a huge protein shake loaded with glucose and ice cream post workout to get my insulin rocketing.

My question is, would it be over kill to have a small protein shake before and a big one after working out? Any thoughts on this?

I put whey and creatine into 12 oz of coffee ... and sip it during my wo.

i have a preWO shake consisting of 28g of protein, and a small serving of Cheerios for some carbs to get me through the workout...

also have a Flax caplet with the shake...
