Whey, casein, mother's milk

So I'm pretty much wondering whether I should start taking casein protein. Has anyone noticed a difference when using casein protein either before bed or at other times in the day? I currently only use whey and I use it after my workout and I usually have another sometime in the day. For the other time should I be using casein instead. Another option is to make my own "mother's milk" which is just a 50/50 blend of whey and casein. Anyone have any experience with this where they noticed a difference?

Bump, has anyone ever noticed a difference between casein and mother's milk compared to whey?

I'll give all the K that I can to anyone who gives some good advice about personal or known experiences.

Casein pre bed is ideal. Long lasting...actually gels in the stomach pre digestion. This makes it ideal for a slow release of amino acids into the bloodstream. Mothers milk is usually an add in, I assume you are speaking of Muscle Milk. Has good fats in it, (mostly MCT's) and tastes excellent. I am not normally a fan of Cookies and Cream, but the MM brand is awesome. They have some excellent flavors.

K for you and thanks. I was referring to actually making my own mother's (muscle) milk, half whey, half casein my own oil, etc.

So whey after workout and casein for my other then which is usually before bed anyways. No need to do the blend then?

These are your options when talking about protein in terms of supplements:
  • Bioactive Whey Fraction
  • Cross Flow Microfiltration Whey Isolate
  • Ion-exchanged Whey Isolate
  • Whey Isolate
  • Whey Concentrate
  • Egg Protein
  • Milk Protein
  • Casein
  • Soy Isolate
  • Soy Protein
  • Hydrolysed Whey

Whey Isolate and above is best used post workout when a quicker rate of absorption is required. Casein is more suited to other times of the day or pre bed-time when you wish the absorption rate to be over a prolonged period. Mixing whey isolate with milk or flax oil will slow the absorption rate. If you are going to use a soy protein then you should also supplement your diet with methionine.

Cytosport's MuscleMilk would be regarded as a slow absorption protein source as the fat content is very high per serving.

You must spread some Karma around before giving it to KIAN again.

Thanks for the reply, I'll make sure I get you back later with K when I can. I think I'll go ahead and get some casein. Thanks,
