Where the Army folks at?

Rex

New member
I just got back from Camp Geiger, North Carolina doing field training for the past two weeks. I'm home until 3 Jan, and have orders to report to Fort Lee, VA for my MOS school. Well it's an Army base, and I'm a Marine. A little out of my environment.

Any Army guys ever been there? How do they react to the whole Marines only salute while wearing covers? Anything good nearby?

It's a training base so dont worry...It's where the army trains the the quartermaster corp and Riggers :)

if you meet any riggers and your interested in airborne ops ask them questions about what they do...packing chutes and inspections they can teach you some cool things

Havoc I dined on the Blueberry Pancakes at Delohnega during the Mountain phase back in '87.

Rex, Fort Lee is nice, it is near Petersburg, VA which is a dive, but other nearby communities are nice. Lots of babeage there due to the fact that it is a the Combat Service Support HQ.

Enjoy.

87? Holy shit. I had them in fall 98. Havoc - don't hate the pancakes.

TTLPKG was rigt on. it;s a support post. Lots of fatties.

God, I still dream about those damn pancakes....as for Ft. Lee...Yup, stay out of Petersburg,,,Head to the Shokoe(Shock-Oh) Bottom....VERY cool club area...Tobbacco Company is a club I used to Bounce at many moons ago...Still a happening spot....

Good Luck my man

Thanks for the input fellas. I've been to Petersburg before when I was younger, and thankfully remember very little about it. I spent a lot of time in VA Beach when my dad was a Navy Civilian worker, then he almost moved to Norfolk when the Philly Navy Yard closed down.

Fort Lee sounds promising. Going to have to make nice with the Army guys, b/c POV's are a negative for students. :D

Can someone explain the blueberry pancake thing? That went right over my (jar) head.

Most of teh Army guys will find you too intense for what they are used to. (Lee is a support post) Show them that you have a personality and you'll be buddies.

The pancakes are known to Ranger students world wide. In between the first and second mountain phase FTX, Ranger students do mountaineering. During this portion of the course, they are treated to barracks, decent sleep (for rangers anyway) and of course, blueberry pancakes in the chow hall. :)

Have fun at Lee.
