Good to feel missed.
I had a helluva weekend where I didn't really get any sleep and I've been in a shit mood because of it for the last couple of days. Feeling better now. I've been reading a little of a book we just got in called "Allah's Mountains" about the war in Chechnya. Anyway, I'm feeling a bit more chipper now.

Fuck around for another twenty minutes or so- at this point it's about the time we were supposed to meet up- and call again. No answer. Surprise, surprise. So I left a cordial message saying I hoped everything was OK, and this was call #3, and I was heading out on the town on my own. Which is what I did, and I actually had a pretty good time despite that bad taste that being stood up leaves in your mouth. Anyway, I get a call the next day at about 3:30pm. I missed the first one, but she actually made a second attempt and I answered that time. Now, if I'm interested in someone and I fucked up, I'm going to be acting sorry as shit that I left them hanging (on my only night off, I might add). She seemed very nonchalant about the whole deal. She said that she had gotten home and taken a shower and had sat down on the couch and just fallen fast asleep. She said she didn't wake up until her roommate came in at 2am. OK....EVEN IF she were telling the truth, that still doesn't say a whole lot for her enthusiasm. I'm not God's gift to women, but I'll be damned if I don't get a little put off by something like that. So I was pleasant- thanked her for the call and all that- but felt a tad deflated. I figured if she was still up for anything, it was clearly her move. The ball was in her court. I wasn't going to initiate anything further. So I saw her Saturday night. It was her Birthday. She came into the bar with some friends while I was working the door. I smiled and said "Happy Birthday", but that was it. I would have talked to her if she had made a move, but I guess she didn't want to- which of course was no big surprise after being stood up. I didn't make eye contact with her the rest of the night, and she left within an hour or so.
Weird- I hadn't had such a good time on a first date in a long time and then that shit happens. Oh well...I try to hope for the best and expect the worst and all that....but it still sucked ass.
