Thats very kind but I dont have the storage space for any props, not to mention I dont own a plane to put them on.

oh, not for planes, but to glue on multi-colored cotton hats.

you'll have fun with that.

Hansel- those are some scrawny ass wrestlers......

I read all the responses and am left thinking "what a bunch of shit." so now i have to responsd and educate like i always do.

Back in the early '90s, MC Hammer did a Pepsi commercial. At the end of the commercial after taking a dramatically long swig from a can, he looked directly at the camera and said with his catchy MC Hammer smile and head shake, "PROPER!" This act was a verbal indication to those watching the commerical that Hammer was pleased with the Pepsi and that it tasted good. Since it sounds gay to give something it's "propers," it has since been shortened to its monosyllabic form, "props."

Why do I get the distinct feeling you're making that up.

directly off inthe80s.com:

I'm pretty sure this was a Pepsi commercial (but it may have been Dr. Pepper); it showed M.C. Hammer at a concert singing his "Hammer" song (Uh oh.. Uh oh, here comes the hammer..) He went backstage for a minute to grab a drink but all they had was Coke; when he came back on the stage he started singing "Feelings... nothing more than feeeeeelings.." and the audience was confused. Someone said "Hammer!" and handed him a Pepsi.. he drank some and said "Proper!" then started rapping again. Ssme gets the ladies.

if i remember right it wasnt formed out of another slang term it was derived from another word thats actual meaning was respect. anyone know for 100 precent

it used to be said as propers, ie proper respect. It was shortened cuz most of us negros have trouble with words having more than one syllable.
