im on the fence with getting my first bike.....i've wanted one since i could walk, now i finally have the ability to get it. car lease expires in july, be down the shore all summer, moving closer to work in the winter (manhattan). makes perfect sense to me to get it. at least that is how i rationalize it to myself. still cant explain it to my girlfriend, let alone my mother. you'd think i was joining the army or something.

gonna take the course to get my license. then start shopping. everyone tells me to get a nice used bike from a dealer, but with all these sweet financing deals floating around, i could put some$$ down and buy it in a year. what to do...what to do.....i get different ideas from everyone i talk to. as much as i love my friends, i dont think they have MY best interests in mind when it comes to a first bike purchase. these are the same guys who took me on a doubleblack at hunter for my first ever run 10 years ago. but i learned real quick how to ski. a little bit of a different type learning curve with riding though ya think?

these are also the same guys who want to teach me how to ride.....nah thanx. i'll take the class and look like a geek for the first couple weeks on the bike. i dont need an r1 or any of that other 0-60 in 1 second shit. for now anyway...ideas, comments, suggestions please.......oh yeah, i live in jersey

im buying a bike at the end of summer myself and im debating between a suzuki marauder 250 5grand factory cruiser

or a 250 ninja

those are good beginner bikes it all depends on what style of person you are,im leaning towards the cruiser myself

I'll be looking to purchase my first bike in the next couple of months...I'm looking for a cruiser but thats just my preference....I dont need all the speed of a sports bike. I might get a wild hair up my ass and do something stupid...Good luck finding your 1st bike...My funds are going to be low so i'm going to have to check into a Asian Cruiser

Check out the Triumph Daytona series, they make a sweet little 600. I traded out of my triumph Daytona 955i a few months ago.

Ducati Monster series is a nice upright riding bike. They also make a somewhat pricier multistrada.

Agusta Brutalle is a nice Monster-ish bike, but it had fuel injection.

Honda's Interceptor is nice, VTEC engine to boot.

As for cruisers, I don't ride them but triumph and moto guzzi make a sweet looking series of cruisers.

Sounds good...I have a couple of buddies I'm training with that are doing their best to talk me into getting a sportsbike
Depending on what I might be paying for insurance I might look into them as well since finding a good looking sports bike is easier to find with the dollar amounts I'm going to have to spend...

im def. getting a sportbike. im not a cruiser-type guy. right now im leaning towards a cbr600 or r6. would these be too much for a beginner? i just wanna make sure i get something i can handle, but not something i will outgrow in a month. here i go talking about outgrowing, and i dont even have a license....
