when does muscle actually grow

Hey there

say i work out on a monday evening, when does the muscle growth attributed to that workout occur? I thought it was when you were sleeping, but then found out that sleep isn't normally an anabolic time.

Just curious to see how this stuff works.

Hypertrophy actually occurs most successfully when exercises are done with a higher rep scheme with low rest in between.

It forces the body to cascade the stress over all muscle fiber types thus forcing a Growth Response.

The other aspect is REST with the proper 'feeding' to encourage new growth.

The last aspect is the Endocrine System
Assuming you are a healthy male or female with good Hormone Levels there is no reason NOT to gain 15 Pounds of PURE muscle in 1 year or so and maybe even 20 by year 2.

20 + usually needs Anabolics

thanks Omega - the rest you're refering to below is between sets? I know I often take longer rests than you recommend, maybe that's part of the reason why i've stopped growing?

Rest Between Sets Yes but not between Exercises

Use the diet tweaks and supp tweaks in the other thred u posted as that should help ASAP
