where is the tolerance and compassion the left always speaks of? instead of being tolerant of the views and opinions of others, they advocate and participate in the violence against them.

Hypocrosies exist on both sides. There has been a shift from "our ideas vs your ideas"' to simply "us vs them". When two political type people start talking the second they find out that one is a "D" and the other is an "R" then tolerance and understanding goes out the window in favor of the "us vs them" battle mode.
