What's wrong with Fox News?

I dont really watch any news television. If I do, I flip from CNN to BBC and occasionally Fox. I prefer reading from multiple sources from around the globe...plus I dont watch much TV to begin with.

So, theres obviously a lot of flak from the far left against Fox, and Im wondering what the reasoning is?

Standard procedure dictates that there will be about a dozen or so people in here screaming that its biased, controlled by Bush, blah blah blah without offering any proof whatsoever.

Im wondering if anybody could offer up any (and this is the kicker) intelligent argument that in some way proves that Fox News is biased.

For now, well leave out the fact that numerous people who have worked for CNN, NBC, etc have come forward saying there is indeed a prominent left-leaning bias and focus simply on Fox, since a lot of folks seem to have a problem with it yet never offer any solid point as to why (or why not).

i'm not a fox basher, but i've always just thought of them as the conservative network full of asshole mouthpieces. people like bill o'reilly and sean hannity are the faces which represent fox to me. and, although i can't give you specifics now because i don't remember, i can honestly say that i think of both those dudes as douchebags. especially o'reilly. what a fucking schmuck. but i suppose that's their job. and there must be schmucks on the left to play the same role. but a schmuck is still a schmuck. and in some of the beef between these dudes...like al franken vs. bill o'reilly...i find myself identifying with al franken more. not because i agree with his politics, but because he seems like a funny and intelligent and maybe-pretentious guy who isn't an ass. bill o'reilly comes across as an idiot. but some people will see them differently. as for the quality of the news...i don't really know.

Because you dont like some of the anchors, that doesnt mean that the entire station is on the Bush payroll, right?

Hey 75th, how goes it.

Fox News is the more conservative station, I keep it on in the background all the time.

If it is indeed conservative, why the bashing?

Fuckin allergies.

Bush doesnt care about non-hypoallergenic dogs!

what people need to do, whether watching conservative fox or liberal cnn, is to seperate the facts out of the stroy. you have to desiphor that doggone shit. because you cant tell me there is a news organization that doesnt lean one way or the other.

There was a study done on the major news stations across america. We all know that some are conservative and some are liberal. Interestingly though... it was found that upwards of 70% of the stations were liberal. 18% or so conservative.
The general public was polled and they thought that the mix would be 40% liberal etc etc.
Its all perception. You can make and arguement either way.
The media has become quite liberal over the years. So FOX is a slap in the face to the mainstream now. Its different.
I like the fact that we have choices on what to watch.

I always thought Fox news' material was the fault of superconservative jews (which I cannot identify at all with).

Either way, I dont find fox news to be that bad - but then again I dont really watch TV.

I think not the majority of Fox dudes are Republican. But the few who are, are very strong and direct. That's what makes liberals angry. The rest has to be liberal to make money. If all of them were Bill O'Reilly, news channels would be broke since 95% of population can't handle the truth. God bless that guy. He has all my support.

I usually keep FOX and CNN on the "alternate" channel button

Fox's founder and president, Roger Ailes, was for decades one of the savviest and most pugnacious Republican political operatives in Washington, a veteran of the Nixon and Reagan campaigns. Ailes is most famous for his role in crafting the elder Bush's media strategy in the bruising 1988 presidential race. With Ailes' help, Bush turned a double-digit deficit in the polls into a resounding win by targeting the GOP's base of white male voters in the South and West, using red-meat themes like Michael Dukakis' "card-carrying" membership in the ACLU, his laissez-faire attitude toward flag-burning, his alleged indifference to the pledge of allegiance--and, of course, paroled felon Willie Horton.

When it comes to Fox News Channel, conservatives don't feel the need to "work the ref." The ref is already on their side. Since its 1996 launch, Fox has become a central hub of the conservative movement's well-oiled media machine. Together with the GOP organization and its satellite think tanks and advocacy groups, this network of fiercely partisan outlets--such as the Washington Times, the Wall Street Journal editorial page and conservative talk-radio shows like Rush Limbaugh's--forms a highly effective right-wing echo chamber where GOP-friendly news stories can be promoted, repeated and amplified. Fox knows how to play this game better than anyone.

you all need to take a step back and realize that you are bickering over news stations and not football games. ;-)
